Road Tech (Garmin) Fairing Mount Template (92238-09)
« on: June 29, 2012, 03:11:01 AM »

Posting to see if anyone would be able to send me a PDF copy of the Fairing Mount Template for the mounting kit?  I purchased my kit from another user on the forum and the template has already been used (discarded).

Thanks in advance...

Also, I am willing to entertain any methods of how I can properly drill the holes without the template.  I just need some HELP with this!

Thanks

Here are the instructions in case you need them.  I mounted one on my Ultra dash pad without a template and it worked out great.  Just look at the picture in the instructions and you'll see where the mount needs to be placed on the back of the inner fairing.  You'll want the top hole to go thru the fairing in the triangular area without hitting any of the reinforcing rib material.  Put the mount up to the fairing and move it along the edge till the top of the mount is parallel to the top edge of the fairing and looks like the top hole will hit in the center of the flat area on the inside of the fairing.  Mark the hole position thru the mount onto the fairing and carefully drill a small pilot hole.  I used tape on the paint so I could see the mark and minimize the chance for the drill bit to drift from the mark.  Enlarge the hole to the size the instructions say and then continue with the instructions to finish the install.  You might get some ideas and confidence by seeing what I did.  http://www.cvoharley.com/smf/index.php?topic=49593.msg732294#msg732294  Relax and just do it, it'll work!

Eric,

Thank you for taking time to reply. I went through your entire post.  This will help tremendously.  It's nice to have a visual reference.  I surely didn't want to go at this blindly!
