I changed my brake pads, and it sounds like Ned Beatty in Deliverance.

Should I be concerned?

Many thanks for the numbers.  OhioDave remembered you had posted them in the past,  Bob

The seal kits are only about twelve bucks if I remember right.  Too cheap not to mess with it were it not for having to bleed the brakes all over again.  I hate doing that on those Brembo calipers so much I'd make the bike prove to me it was going to leak.  Having the bleeder no higher than the input line and everything else lower is stooopid.

Still messing with this noise.   Like a locust/cicada or a card against a bicycle spoke.

I thought I was on to something but this didn't work either.  The front and the rear pads are the same.  Just the pins are different.  The rear pad pin is slightly larger in diameter where it goes thru the pad eyes.  It is about 1/8" longer but goes thru the back side of the calipre a little and the grille cover still goes on.

But the my noise is still there.  Guys that complain about the clack sound, this should help the movement of the pads making that noise.

Front pad kit with pins   41854-08,   front pin and clip   42849-08

Rear pad kit with pins     41852-08A,  rear pad  pin and clip  42865-06B

The front pin is on the left and the rear pad pin is on the right (thicker body)..

Don-

I had the calipres off again tonight.  I left the pads in the calipres and pumped the lever and watched the pistons come out.  One would move all the way out, the next one on the same side of the calipre would come out, and then the remaining two on the other half.  Is that right???

The pistons have score marks all the way around them.  They are not perfectly smooth.   I don't have a new piston to compare.

When I take the calipre bolts off the legs, the calipres slide easily down.  All 4 pistons appear to be out the same plus or minus 1/16" by eyeball.  When on jack, the wheel stops immediately and then releases immediately when braking and letting off the brake.

Any more pointers appreciated.  Thanks
Bob

Thanks for responding 2012.  I did a search and there was a post from 2008 by Dan_Lockwood that stated his brakes made a noise that sounded like "locusts"..

I have been trying to think what my noise sounds like and a locust sound is as close as I can do.  Dan thought the noise was caused by the air passing the pads and the holes in the rotors.

Nothing conclusive came out of the 2008 thread.

Anyone reading this and has any ideas is much appreciated by me-thanks.
Bob I agree that this is what your hearing! Had the same noise after changing pads & rotors before!  :2vrolijk_21:

Never have solved the noise.  Stops good so will leave alone.  I think the floating rotors could have something to do with it.  With the wheel on the ground, I can slightly move the disc part of the rotor on the floating rivots/hub (when rotated clockwise/counterclockwise a little).  No side to side movement of the rotor on the floating rivots..
