Except for one thing, I'd rather not do the walking cast on my right ankle again in this life, twice was more than enough. Electric start was a GOOD thing. :2vrolijk_21:

Mark,
You're right about that. I couldn't imagine having one of these high HP motors kick back. It would do a lot of damage. :nervous:

'd00d, with all the advances made by the MoCo over the years, I'm sure the engines would start on the first attempt with no kickback or "Sportster knee" issues.  After all, they've fixed all the other issues, haven't they?

Say what you will, it sure was fun back in the day watching your buddy kick his bike over to the point of exhaustion after you had surreptitiously shut off the petcock.  Somehow, watching him just run his battery down isn't as funny.

Good to hear, I am a bit surprised how many people I've heard from that love their Bakers. For the few extra $$$$ I am sure it was the right choice. It is being installed now and I hope to pick it up Wednesday afternoon.

Baker also has a new reverse gear kit, for you folks who wish you had a Goldwing.  So my question is, if you get the 7 speed and the reverse kit, does that mean you now have an 8 speed trans?  And my next question is, WTF?  First they "wussify" bikes by adding electric starters and eliminating the manly art of kick starting, now they want to give us a reverse gear so we can back up our oversized and overweight toys with ease.  Next will be automatic transmissions and automatically deployable outriggers  (so we don't even have to hold the bike up at stops).  Can fully enclosed cockpits be far behind?

Jerry,
Always love reading your posts, respect your knoledge and wisdom, but if you ever tried to kickstart a high compression Sportster with a magneto to life, you'd be just a wee bit more charitable here.

I still can feel the pain on the inside of my right knee.

I don't remember which was worse, the bike kicking back or the ratchet not engaging and doing the full kick stroke with 0 resistance ........

Ridley's got the automatic transmission,I saw a guy this winter with outriggers that came out of his saddlebags when he stopped. He did have a good excuse. He'd lost a lot of a leg in a bike accident.

MJZ:  I put a Baker 6 speed in my 04 Ultra.  No modification required.  Love the Baker for its smooth shifting and virtually no noise - like the "clunk" I get with the HD 6 speed.  I bought the Baker through MandMcycles.com.  Paid $1,800 plus some change.  Don't forget to get the speedometer calibration part.  I had the bike dyno'd and the tech installed the part and set the speedometer.  A really nice addition to the bike.  I got the Baker 6 speed, not the DD6.

Hey Mark

Does your DD6 have a new oil fill like Henry's OD6?
