Do you know Scooter and Hobo from over in Ozark?  They've got blue SE Road Glides.

I lived in Nixa during undergrad work at SMS.  Hated school.  Thank god for extracurricular recreation back then or I'd never have stayed with it long enough to graduate.

Ghost Rider and I are in Joplin.  Couple of other members also that are a bit less active.  And one new member who just got  red Road Glide back to town here.  A few from NW AR we see up here too.  And a decent central Arkansas crowd.

Check the events section for the get together we'll do this summer at Hot Springs during the rally down there.  You could take off next week and ride to York, PA too to meet a bunch of the crowd.  We eat.  We ride.  We eat some more.  And a good time shall be had by all.

The Baker DD6 on Elvis has completely spoiled me rotten and I've decided it is past time to get one for the Nana. Talked to Baker this afternoon, they told me to order the builder's kit as it comes complete ready to fit in my case. I understand the HD 6 speed requires the new case.
What can you suggest, am I understanding this correctly?

I used to own Elvis remember buddy ?  And I've got an H-D 6 in LD.

This thread isn't worth the time it takes to post on it.

The Baker is a performance transmission, the H-D is a marketing tool.

Nuff said

Thanks Twolane. I did meet Hobo at the dealership last year. I've been lurking around the site for a while and like most of you, I've been riding Harleys for many, many years. We do want to make Hot Springs this year and hope to meet many of the folks from the CVO site.

Isn't the state rally in Spfld this year?  The state HOG rallies are kind of.... well.... redundant, boring, sedate and heavily infested with lots of new riders that aren't quite yet ready for a crowd (not that those are bid things of course).  But that close we all ought to get together at least one day during the event.  Even the Missouri State HOG Rally has got to be ok when you can go home and sleep in your own bed that night :2vrolijk_21: .

I'm not really up on the 6 speed thing, but I think the gear ratios would be something to check into. Secondly the way the 6 speed is set up, I think the Baker doesn't spin all the gears constantly, I could be wrong. If this is the case, it would aid gas milage and performance.

Just to throw a monkey wrench into the works, Baker just released a 7 yes folks seven speed trans. My understanding is 2nd-5th gears are reduced for vastly improved acceleration and 7th is a full on overdrive as opposed to their direct drive (DD) 6 speed trans.

Just got off the phone with them, it's for the 07 & 08 models only. I got lucky on that one. :2vrolijk_21:

LD's an 07. Wanna buy the closest thing to a CVO Road Glide out there ?

Come to think of it, you've got a SEEG and a SERK but no RG.

Tell you wife you're "holding" it for a friend.

Hell it works for Chip - - - Nancy doesn't suspect a thing  ;)

I figure for what LD's worth, I can buy a bare bones 03 SERK and an 01 SERG

And then go totally broke again with my personal vision for both   ;)

Brian  the origional 7 speed was set up with a gear added in between 1st and 2nd gear, where most people complained that they had to accelerate hard out of 1st gear before shifting into 2nd.

Maybe the one you heard of changed all of that.

Baker also has a new reverse gear kit, for you folks who wish you had a Goldwing.  So my question is, if you get the 7 speed and the reverse kit, does that mean you now have an 8 speed trans?  And my next question is, WTF?  First they "wussify" bikes by adding electric starters and eliminating the manly art of kick starting, now they want to give us a reverse gear so we can back up our oversized and overweight toys with ease.  Next will be automatic transmissions and automatically deployable outriggers  (so we don't even have to hold the bike up at stops).  Can fully enclosed cockpits be far behind?
