He does use an older dyno I realize- with him, it's not because he is trying to sell people on higher numbers- he runs a home based shop, and probably bought his dyno many years ago, and since it still works....well, he's a "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" type of guy.
I had a dyno run a couple years back at another place (Dynotunes in Burlington), who uses Winpep 7, and the numbers there were within a couple hp/tq of the run I did at Don's a few months later. So by that logic, his dyno would seem to be in-line with, at least that other places dyno.
Maybe one day I'll run it on another dyno somewhere, but I'm not here to brag about numbers anyhow, and I honestly don't care if nobody believes them- the point of this thread is to share my experiences dealing with this guy, and to express how I feel about the end result of how the bike runs and performs. I know this is beneficial for anybody around here that is considering doing a build, and is looking for a reputable, honest, and knowledgable local builder/tuner.
The other point of it is to plant a seed of thought that as unconventional as it sounds, maybe, just maybe, this guy has something when it comes to these 110's- like I've said, this guy is a lifelong racer and harley engine builder who has done 39 of these 110 builds. When the 110 first came out, he found that it wasn't performing the way it should by way of traditional performance mod's. He did extensive flow bench testing, and came up with his combo that creates the optimum intake/exhaust flow...he says the valve(s) are too big as they come, so whatever he does optimizes the flow and velocity, etc. This, combined with his tuning knowledge, gets the results he gets.
I know I'm not explaining all of what he does properly, because it's not what I do for a living, and the technical stuff he talks about is over my head. But, if any of this piques the curiousity of any of the pro engine builders on this site, I'd say feel free to give the guy a call, and see what you think. Don Morris- 905-679-2237.
