Back to the orange peel question, man there is a lot of it in this pic from a bike in Europe.  Is the MoCo painting these with a brush?

That is pretty bad, you can even see it easily on the Orange., OK, that quailify's as more than slight But Id still take that over what I have on my '06 right now.

That has to be in the clear I would think, sure isn't the quality I would expect on a "custom" paint job.  Imagine if you bought a set of tins and they came in like that, we'd be pissed then too.

Sun is out here finally, they just announce only one day without rain in November.  If it wasn't 39 degrees and all the sand on the road from the snow sanding I would ride my bike up to the dealer for the new tins today.

That looks way bad. I believe they forgot to wetsand that fender, just slap on the bike and out the door. I took a tour of the Tomahawk WI. plants this past September and seen all the parts on rack saddlebags ,side covers, tourpacks, fairings, ect after clear was put on and there was alot, I mean alot of orange peel. All these parts are wet sanded and buffed my hand before being put on bike.

My 07 Lighting blue/blue has no orange peel. I guess Im one of the lucky ones. I even had another gas tank put on and no orange peel on the second one. My first tank had six long blemish under paint coat under Harley emblem. Had to get down on kness and look up to see promblem. Dealer ordered new one and was in and installed less than three weeks.Goodluck on getting the stealer to fix problem.

The most common causes for orange peel in an automated paint process are too rapid evaporation of solvents before the paint film is able to "flow out" completely, poor "atomization" of the paint by the equipment, or too many heavy wet coats.

I too just got an 2007 Chevy Silverado color blue granite metalic about two weeks ago and it too has some orange peel also.My local Gm dealer said they wet sand it and make it right. My old 2004, 2001 silverado also had orange peel but my 2000 silverado work truck does not.Point being some trucks do and some dont just like our bikes mine being one that does not.I believe they are producing these things so fast and out the door and they have gotten away with this so many times we all just need to speek up to MoCo or the stealer.

Its not just the CVO bikes. I have seen stock bikes the last two production years with orange peel. [smiley=nixweiss.gif]
