Previous touring bikes: 2007 Ultra w/true duals, stage one, etc.; 2010 Limited w/true duals, stage one etc. I bought a new 2014 CVO last August. I left the dealership on a 80 degree day & drove about 10 miles, nice highway 55mph to first stop sign. Bike kicked into limp mode. Hottest SOB I've ever ridden. Drove about another 10 mile 55mph to next stop @ convenience mart. Limp mode into parking lot. The pattern continued throughout the summer until the weather cooled down to 70 or less. I spoke to dealer who said I must have an exceptionally warm runner. I wanted to keep this bike fairly stock. CVO stock mufflers sound fine. I ran the bike about 1100 miles & took it in for 1000 mile check & purchased a decatted head pipe. Dealer still has bike due to fabulous Pennsylvania winter weather. I'm curious if any others suffered same issues and if they had to go to stage one to solve problem. 110 runs much better than my previous 103 w/stage one, so no need to upgrade for power. It's just hot!
THANKS for the replies. I know how to cool the bike. I just didn't expect to have to do it to this bike. I was hoping water cooled might eliminate some of the heat. I know there are a lot 14-15 bikes out there. I only put 1200 miles on mine before winter shut things down. Is mine unusually hot? Or, as the service manager said "their all like that".
