Another thing to consider.
The UK bike industry at one time was the modern Japanese equivalent, (or so the propaganda would have us believe), in worldwide bike production and sales (around the fifties and early sixties and maybe earlier) so we are told. Then it fell into dereliction due to the introduction of superior manufacturing systems and quality control of the Japanese bike industry. The British bike industry was accused of foisting onto the bike buying public unproven products with inherent faults, to be rectified were necessary by the dealers if a customer complained during the warranty period. This, in part, led to the demise of the bike industry in the UK. (Sound familiar?).
I assume the home product of the USA is not commercially protected by the USA Government ,which I understand it was at one time. If it is not then if they continue to produce the product we are seeing they have only themselves to blame for the consequences.
I may be from the UK but I have bought plenty of USA products, and pleased to do so due to the quality and the feeling of camaraderie that comes with it. In fact I and the the pal I refer to in my previous posts are often the champions of all things HD among our biking peers. As such I am confused why HD, in this day and age, continue to offer goods with inherent faults. Lets face it S&S are able to manufacture solid products that have similar capability and capacity as HD without the weaknesses. Why cannot HD see this. Someone within HD should have the courage to identify this and do something about it. You listening Willy, or Willy's lad?
