I know I can try the 1.75 baffles but I was thinking of just installing a set of stock mufflers off of another CVO.
If I do install stock mufflers
1. Do I need to retune it?
2. If I do not retune it will I hurt anything?
3. What are the downsides of doing this without a retune besides the fact that I am not getting the most out of the TTS?
Nobody specifically answered your questions Chief, so I thought I'd indicate my experience with my Tribal CUSE8. I'm far from knowledgeable on this but can relate what I went through:
1. You probably should to get it running as good as you can, but it would probably be okay without a new tune for a time. I say this because I changed to Fullsac headers and V&H Monster ovals and ran my bike without re-tuning. Later I purchased a SERT from my local dealership and everything went downhill... When they got through it ran so poorly I had to find a professional tuner - I was glad I did. I may switch over to TTS this summer, but would have it re-tuned if so.
2 & 3. It could run lean, mine sure did after my dealer got involved. You can check the trouble codes to see if this indicates anything to be corrected. I'm certain you can get a TTS map exactly for or near to match your system. There are many on this site who could explain in detail the what and why when it comes to tuning.
The V&H Monster Oval slip-ons aren't too loud on my bike, at least to me in any event. I like the tone and acceptable decibel level. I'm pleased with the change; however, I'm not trying to spend your money and see the value of re-installing the stock slip-ons. My state was becoming really critical on pipe noise so I kept that in mind when shopping aftermarket pipes. I even considered leaving it stock due to this, but needed to cool it down some. My dealership changed the pipes because they assured me they would keep the scoot stickered for inspections.
