Sounds like the .0022" dimension is not enough for that...............I've seen more that one slide-rule totin', keyboard-commando engineer turn up with wrong calculated numbers/dimensions/angles w/o putting them into real world application.......... ;)

Really. Just like to stir it up or what?
.0022 is in the ballpark of correct clearance for cast iron guides, ex side.  Harley fixed the issue. I don't see this happening on the later heads coming in.
I use Starrett dial bore gauge and standards and Rowe go-no-go gauges btw.

Don, don't get yourself in a twist, as I was not refering to you.
Generalized statement refering to the cad/cam builders, even at the OE level.

Don

I agree the new black seals do work very well. I have not been happy with the quality control on the goodson seals. They tend to be a small on the ID and I have seen where they want to push back up or slightly roll to one side. No issues with the HD on the same guide or cometic for that matter.Spoke with goodson they are looking into pulling stock and testing on a guide. That was the only issue with a seal from them in that size.  :nixweiss:  I think Sachs had a issue on these as well.. No big deal but goes to show how important a seal can be in the long run.

Several broken ex guides we have seen where oil coking on the guide. It would build up enough to spread the guide bore enough to crack and then a part would be dis lodged.

I have been riding it for a few days now it's acting kinda funny.  Changed the plugs with new H-D ones. I think I may have some bad fuel as it seems to miss at steady throttle from 2000 and up.  Really sounds like chit at 3000

Just for my own interest what is the fuel pressure your mechanic has recorded?  You may need to ask him the next time you talk to him if you remember.  Thanks.
