I have my keys connected to my belt look with a strap so I can't just lose them.  It is also easier to carry them.

Since the keys are found I have a complaint/question.

One of my complaints to HD was why in the world do I have to have two big FOBs.  Most cars have one small FOB that does everything and has the emergency key. Why can't we have one FOB with the emergency key? What a PITA these things are.

I assume it's because they haven't offered the central locking option on anything but CVO's and didn't see the need to have a vendor come up with the combination fob for the relatively small volume.  If so, it's typical H-D shortsightedness.  Once again, they don't have to invent anything, since their cousins in the auto industry already invented it.  And I assume their supplier is probably also an automotive supplier.  There is no excuse these days to have to carry around multiple fobs or keys.

OK, so I didn't lose my keys, per se...

My FLTRUSE came with the regular HD security fob + the circular key embedded into a remote for the power locks. I got 2 of each. The fobs function fine. One of the remotes, however, was DOA. OK, no problem, the dealer ordered another one. Picked it up today... same problem. It doesn't do anything when you press buttons.

Reading thru this thread it seems there is some programming necessary at the dealership. I asked the parts guy & he said it was programmed. Maybe not, huh?

I'll be heading back there next week to have the 1k service done, so they will investigate further.

So, for those who have replaced the remote/key gizmo - did someone have to program something?

Thanks!
Only one of mine was programmed when I picked up the bike. I got out the manual and reprogrammed them myself. Wasn't worth a trip to the dealer in the winter for me.

2016 CVO'S at least, have the new combo FOB.  Now there's a reason to spend $40k  😃😃
