2007 110ci SERK - 117 Perfomance Kit
« on: May 24, 2016, 02:39:03 PM »

I've read much about the 117 upgrade in other threads but not much in the SERK one.
Especially for an older model.   So.....

Does anyone foresee problems with installing the  HD 117ci performance kit on a 2007 SERK that has 35,000 miles.
I'd like to follow up with a dyno tune to be able to get the most performance possible.
The engine recall was done at the time it was issued years ago to correct the heat problem with the back cylinder and since then there has been no problems.

Among other supporting equipment the the kit includes:
SE 4.125" bold on cylinders
9.9.1 compression pistons and rings
SE-259E cams
Perfect-Fit Pushrods
Heavy duty clutch spring.

I'm far from an engine builder/mechanic. But, to me,  the kit sounds like it would contain most of what I'd need to build a mostly new engine.
My main worry is the mileage and age as well as the crank and other bottom end components and I wonder if the kit and dyno would be excessive or downright deadly to the engine.
Thoughts?

I wouldn't be at ease with any year 110 doing this upgrade without addressing the bottom end. Being an 07 owner is mostly why. ::)

Your bike is NOT listed as one the kit will work on.  Some night when you can't sleep read the 56 page thread on the 117 kit.

Yeah I saw the thread plus I read the HD site for what engines are supported.
Stage One with Rinehart slip-ons already complete with a Power Commander since the HD provided interface was shot and they wanted $1000 to replace it.
I guess the next question is, what can be done to kick up the HP/Torque?

Fuel Moto has a really nice 113 kit for $1300.  Add their head porting package to that and you'll be around the same money as the SE 117 kit and you'll be making power/ torque in the same neighborhood.
