I had to switch out my Rineharts for my stock CVO cans with Fullsac 2" cores after my 113 build. Wasn't thrilled about that, because I love the idle sound of the Rineharts, plus I loved the look of my Performance Machine Tech 10 tips- by far the nicest looking exhaust tips IMO.
I was getting O2 sensor errors then noticed my rear cylinder muffler was loose. The last mechanic that put them on re-used my torca clamps which are supposed to be a one time use. I had to tighten it way past the recommended torque value to get it tight. An exhaust leak is a common cause of the O2 errors apparently.
Went and got new torca clamps today. Since the mufflers were off, I decided to take out the OEM screens and baffle wrap to give me more sound. Good thing I did- the baffle material was disintegrating, and half of it was stuck to the inner wall. I got a long handled BBQ brush and scraped it clean as best I could.
I then tried fitting the PM tips to the stock cans. To make it fit, I would have to mill a bit of the lip to centre to top screw hole, and have 2 more threaded holes drilled to match the holes on the muffler. Since the wife works at a machine shop, she took them to work today to get it done. Her boss didn't want to mill the edge of the tip as he thought it might damage the paint on the tips, so I ended up using a button head screw and washer for the top hole, and re-used the nice OEM flush screws on the bottom and side.
Put them back on with the new clamps, and the Fullsac's sound much better to me. Almost the volume and tone of the Rineharts (especially when comparing the Rineharts on when I was a 110 vs the quieter Fullsacs on the 113 with headwork), and they really have the same quality of sound as the Rineharts which makes sense since they have both spiral louvered cores.
Between a new TTS map that my tuner sent me, and the properly sealing mufflers, I don't have any error codes after a short ride tonight which included some full throttle runs. Fingers crossed that problem is solved.
Long post, but I'm pleased with the simple changes I made to my mufflers.
Oh yeah, I know.......
