Rear tire pics?
« on: May 20, 2017, 11:04:59 PM »

Do anyone have a side by side or a before and after picture of a stock 240 tire and a 250 or 260?

The interweb did.  Just did a Google search for "240 vs 250 rear tire" and a few images were magically revealed.  Google is your friend (right up until it's real name of Skynet is revealed and we're all nuked [I'll be riding that day though so, to hell with it]).

I hope there is a reason for wanting this information other than just wanting to stuff the biggest tire possible on the back in an effort to "look cool".

Try the search feature on this site and ask for threads about 240, 250, and 260 tires.  There have been some threads in recent years about this topic, and I'm pretty sure I remember seeing some photo's posted by members.

Sorry I should of been more specific.
I wanted to see the tire on the bike.  Was looking to see how the tire filled up the gap in the fender and how close it gets to the belt.

Should still blame Skynet.

Here's the link to one thread on this subject, showing a 260 Metzler on a Breakout.  I don't recommend it and wouldn't do it myself.

;)  No doubt you're right Don, but I can't help myself.  I've seen way too many people do things for the wrong reasons and wind up damaging their equipment or hurting themselves or others, so I continue to tilt at windmills in hopes I can influence at least a few to abandon bad ideas.

I agree with Jerry on this on. Going bigger with the rear tire on the breakout is not a good idea.

Fitment wise, bad idea.fits, but no margin for fudge let alone random occurrences that can happen on the road handling wise even worse idea.

well, you don't have to try and convince me.  when I bought my agitator wheels (pre cvo bike), the po had installed a 200 tire on the rear.  it looked cool as chit on the roadglide, but I always worried in the back of my mind, what if?  I knew that the tire wasn't a mt tire, so tread life would be considerably less, so I was willing to let it go until replacement time.

before it became time to replace, I bought my cvo.  so the chrome agitators came off the trade in and went on the wife's bike.  I am not going to take any chances when it comes to her safety, so one of the first things I did was have that tire pulled and a stock 180 fitted back there.  doesn't look as cool, but I know that everything is in spec and I don't have to worry.  these crazy drivers on the road make me worry about her enough as it is, don't need to add to it.
