Yes you are, and after reading the thread I looked this up on the HD site

66345-04

IN-STORE PURCHASE ONLY Contact dealer for pricing and availability.

Fits '99-'07 Electra Glide® models (except FLHTCSE, FLHTCSE2, FLHTCUSE or models equipped with Color-Matched Inner Fairing).

Is it because the chrome trim on the forks push the fairing to the rear a bit?
Since there is a disclaimer it looks like I'm stuck with a double blemish  :-\

Duane at the time I couldn't think of a thing that was different between any bike with a color matched inner fairing and those that didn't have one.  I still can't.

On mine the part clears; if I make sure it's tucked up against the tank well.  If not it would rub for sure.  Just a weird part.

How are you with touch up bottles?

It is not just a scratch or rub mark Don. It is an obvious depression in the fairing. Best way I can describe it is that my fingertip seems to "fill" the hole  :-[

Maybe between a 32nd and a 16th inch deep, 1/4" wide by 3/8" long.

It is worse on the left side, didn't realize I was forcing the wheel hard over to lock the forks, that is how much it is hitting.

From the pictures that's about what I was guessing Duane.  Putting some color over it will at least make it far far less noticable.  Other than that you're looking at real live body and fender work.  Personally, I'd try to do a good job of coloring it and then get in the habit of not looking down very much.

Duane,
Somehow I don't think it would pass muster with Don very long, but it sure would give him some creative idea for a custom made inner fairing thing a bob! :huepfenlol2:  john

You might be surprised John.  I'm not at all picky with things like that on someone else's bike  ::) .
