Dealer installed SERT and Reinhart Slip -On's at the 500 mile check. At that time they stated to me my factory warranty was not violated because the SERT was an HD product designed for there bikes and that they had specific mapping for the 08 SEUC. The slip-on's were also approved because I was not changing the Y crossover and that is what the motor was designed with. As with the Ams Oil vs Syn 3 I with the support of everone on this site plus the laws found out I am totally legal. As with anything with HD things change weekly so when we get into the nity gritty of things we will see where we stand.

As long as you're aware that that's the dealer's line, not MoCo's. Theoretically, the MoCo can deny any claim once any mod is done to the engine. That little amount of work is still a variance from their street legal stock configuration. Since they have so many problems, I doubt MoCo will deny a claim for a leak. But your dealer is the one that better stand by it if the MoCo does decide to play hardball. There are no mods allowed that change it from street legal status which will officially maintain your factory w.....ty. And I'd worry about the extended w.....tys, since they're underwritten by an insurance co, not HD. They might decide to play hardball, once the huge bills start rolling in. Be careful and don't necessarily believe ANYTHING the dealer tells you. Get it in writing! ;)

I believe that a PROPERLY built engine will be quieter than the stock POS 110! My new custom built 110 sans any HD parts, with gear drive cams, is markedly quieter than my stock POS ever was!!! ;)

Howie, Howie, Howie, honestly bro, I feel like your damn conscience somedays. Unless you tossed your H-D engine cases, you DO have some H-D parts in your motor. I sincerely hope you didn't take an almost new $35,000 limited edition vehicle and kill the value with non matching Vin and motor numbers.

Technicallity B B. ;)

The new cases are HD, BUT MODIFIED for Timken bearing with S&S crank, with my VIN. The heads are HD, but modified with no HD parts in them. I should say the ony HD parts are the case and head castings! ;)

You mean the stock crank, with the ridiculous runout and shifting flywheels? Nothing I guess if you like that kinda stuff. S&S or Jims, and Timken conversion is the way to go on the 110 bottom end! ;)

The point I was making and what Howie has stated is the mods you've already done could be reason for the MoCo to deny a warranty claim. Unless any of the mods you've done cause a failure then they are as good or better then stock and you would be covered under the Magnussen-Moss Warranty Act. However it would be up to you to prove this, and might end up costing you time and money. You are going to have to decide what's going to be the best for you, and create a relationship w/the dealer doing the install. If they will back the parts that are installed don't worry so much about the warranty. As it is now if you have a failure away from home concerning your slip-ons another dealer isn't going to warranty them. If you have a motor failure somewhere away from home and you want Amsoil put back in the motor most likely you'll get Syn 3 (unless you pay the difference).

I guess what I'm trying to get you to understand is do what you need to make your bike run/last the way you want it, and don't get so hung up on the warranty.

There is a member here that spent a lot of time ( & posts) concerned about his warranty only to end up saying FTF/FTW.

Don't worry Howie that's our secret. ;) ;D

Said it before, I'll say it again. I am sorry about your issues with the motor that came in your 07 SERK. Having said that, you're far more patient than I am. I have to say in all honesty, if I bought an H-D, had it break down under warranty and the dealer could not repair it, I'd call my lawyer and that dealer would have the vehicle back. AND, I'd probably go buy an older tried and true model as are many of our site bros/sisters. Seems like there's a hell of a hot market in used CVO's lately. Anyway, once again, sorry you had so much trouble. Wonder what Willie G would say if you could sit down with him and have a polite but honest conversation on it all. As Matt likes to say, just for chits and giggles, have you chronicled all of it and sent a letter to the head honcho at H-D. His name and info was posted yesterday on the site here.

Yeah BB, but it's just a motor. And this chit ain't rocket science. Don't need no lawyer, just a good engine builder! You gotta know how I feel about the bike right now. You did a coupla things to Elvis and LD to get the bike your way. And you know how I feel about RK's, this being my 5th one. I just love them things for a trip bike. Now I got an awesome one. And if I did it from the beginning, like I should have known I needed to, I wouldn't have even needed any patience. All a matter of priorities. Ain't no lawyer gonna give me the RK I've always wanted. And HD ain't gonna do it either. Only I can do that with my bikes. I ain't bitter about it now. Still pisssed at the MoCo though for doing this to so many people that can't understand my rationale, or are willing to deal with it this way. Ya'll know me. "I just wanna be free to ride my machine.....!" ;)

I hear you on building the RK of your dreams Howie, I still miss Elvis. But LD is turning into one fine machine, maybe a bit glitzy for a Road Glide, especially one that gets ridden, but it's a runner too so that makes up for it.
