That Spyder sounds totally sick...

I see your point but comparing a high end Asian car with a Harley CVO is a bit
&
. A high end special series "american" car will run you over $45,000 like the Shelby, R/T Hemi's, Vette's, & Viper$$$$$, and yes being a "limited edition" you might dare not modify it but then there are very successful 3rd party "factory customs" such as the Saleen & Roush Mustangs for a very hefty chunk of change.
Didn't mean to sound like I'm getting my dander up
, just practicing with you all when I have to answer to the "boss" after buying those "safety improvements" for my ride (it is starting already...
). Can't use the thinking about her excuse, she won't ride on the back yet.
The point of my post wasn't so much as comparing apples and oranges as pointing out that when I bought the car I shopped around and found THE CAR. I have never been able to find THE MOTORCYCLE - regardless of Mfgr of Origin. I think the reason I was able to find the perfect car now is because at 55 years old, I'm more of a Harley guy than a car guy these days. In my late teens and early 20's, I was a nut for American Muscle cars. I had 68 Dodge Charger that I was constantly changing wheels, tires, exhaust, carb, intake manifold , rear end gear ratios, and so forth. So my point is simply that it's a factor of being an "enthusiast" more than a factor of how the MoCo builds the CVO lineup. We've got over 7,000 members on this site. I'll go out on a limb and say that I be willing to bet that more of them have left their Screamin Eagle's stock than have modified them. It's just that of those 7,000 members, less than 200 post on a regular basis and many of our members never post at all, so we have no way of knowing what they do
To answer the question posed by this thread title, as I said in my first post, the cost lies with the Mfgr. I'd say it probably relates to volume sales. I am sure there are a bazillion HiPo 350 Chevy engines in service. How many Jim's 131's do you suppose have been sold ? And so on.
