I thought that as soon as you turned on the bike the amp fired up.  If it was wired to the acc switch I would be able to run and charge the bike with out powering up the amp.

I thought that you were talking about putting the bike on a battery tender to charge it.  Why are you starting the bike to charge it up?  I still don't think it would be a problem...I mean pretty much everyone wires theirs to the battery.  I'm still not sure why you want to do this differently, but then again, like I said I'm far from an expert in this area.  Maybe someone else is on the same wavelength as you for this and can give you a detailed and correct answer.

I am just worried that the draw on the system might cause a problem with the battery and getting charged on those short bar hops. So I was thinking that if it was wired to the acc switch. I could start up the bike and let it idle for a few then hit the acc switch to turn on the amp and be on my way.  I too am not sure if this would actually do anything but I was thinking that if I were to have a problem with the battery or charging system. I could cut off the amp draw for the start up.  Not sure it was just an idea I was kicking around

You'll probably get an intelligent reply from someone in the morning when there are more people online.  Personally, I'd take a few seconds and plug a battery tender into your bike when you aren't using it.  That should keep you in pretty good shape.  Unless you are leaving you stereo on for a while to listen while the bike's not running, I don't think you'll have problems, unless you are already having battery problems, and then it would sound like you need to spring for a new battery.  If you let the stereo play without the bike running, it will run down the charge pretty quickly.  When the shop was trying to get my GPS working and they left it sit outside trying to pick up satellites, I watched the charge drop off and it was harder to start than normal that time around.  I put it on the battery tender when I got home and all is well.

Thanks Henry,

I plan to do this.  I just wonder if the previous owner did the switch -r-roo?  I am getting ready to put the hawg wired system in her and am wonder if anyone had used the acc switch to power the amp.  I had a '97 UC and thought the system had a large draw to the system.  So I thought if I wired it to the acc switch I could charge the system without powering up the amp.  Any ideas?

That is likely where your challenge lies.  As for the HW stuff, I gotta step aside.  No experience in that arena, and any money I had set aside for it was sunk into the new engine.......plus a whole lot more.......so it is unlikely I'll see HW in the near future.

Good idea.  She is all plugged in and resting. LOL  I think I might be looking at getting a new battery.

I hear ya there.  This is a take off from my last bike which I put on it just before finding this SEUC.  So it was a given it had to be trans planted on the new scoot.

I've got my own question that's been bugging me for a bit about the heated seat.  First, does anyone have a pic under their seat, showing the heated seat plug and the auxillary plug together?  When I took my bike in because the heated seat was not working, they told me it wouldn't work and they would have to order me a new seat.  When I picked the bike up, it worked for me on the way home.   When I called the shop and told them that, I was told that I didn't have the seat plugged in and that's why it didn't work.  I told him that there was no way I didn't have it plugged in when the entire point of me taking the seat off before I took it to them was to try to get the seat working.  I have later learned that they in fact have gotten a new seat in for me via a new guy in parts.  Apparently, they had no idea either that the seat was now working.

Now here's the part that's been bugging me.  Where the seat plugs in under the seat, the connector has a cap attached to close it off from getting wet when it's not in use.  I do not recall ever seeing that previously.  I also have never seen 2 different connections under there to give me a choice of where to plug it in.  I'm wondering if they could have switched me to the auxillary plug and hidden the seat plug from me by burying it under something.  Do both connections have a cover for when they are not in use?  I just wanted to see a photo with both, since I keep seeing 2 of these mentioned and I have only ever seen one.  Something just does not make a lot of sense.  It never has since they ordered me a new seat and then it worked, and then they told me it was just unplugged.  Why did they order me a seat?  Where's my extra plug?  I don't know if I have AUX switched on to get the seat to work or not...bike's at the shop and I'll have to check that out.  I would like to get to the bottom of this.  The thought resurfaced when the new parts guy pulled up my account to see if my engine paint was in, and he wanted to know if I wanted to pick up my new seat that arrived also.  Service told me that I was confused at the time and that they never ordered me a new seat.  Someone isn't telling me the entire story.

For now, I want to make sure I have both working connections like I am supposed to before this things becomes a distant memory and I need both of them for something.

Sure is.  I'm pulling that seat off and looking for both when I get the bike back today or tomorrow.  If the one made for the seat doesn't have a cover for when it's not in use, then I'm going to have the shop show me what they did before I leave there.

Louis,

I believe you can easily tell (which) connector is powering your seat via the following.  The "aux" connector under the seat section (with the cover),  will NOT have power to it unless the aux toggle switch is on and you have the ign :Pition switch on and/or acc. switch position on.  Assuming you are the proud owner of a multi-meter,  you can easily see if toggling the acc. switch disrupts power to your connector.  It it does NOT,  then your connector to the seat is the one designated for it and the acc. connector should still be hiding there for other usage when you happen to need it.

Mine is connected to the one with the cover and it only seems to heat up if I have the AUX switch turned on.  I cannot find the other one though.  If it's there, it's buried pretty well.  I doubt this is a problem until I find that I need to hook something up to AUX.  Until I find the other one (which I will ask the shop about when I have my starter replaced), I just need to hit the AUX switch on to use the heated seat.  Hopefully, I won't need the heated seat much more for a while anyway.

Yes, I know. My remark was tongue in cheek  ;)
