Bottom line to me is it is your money, but it is want not economics. Are the changes on the '09 worth whatever dollar figure it will take to get them? Does the bike handle many thousands of dollars better? It is almost impossible to come out ahead buying new vs. updating, especially on a year old bike. People point out what I could save by getting a vehicle that gets twice the mileage of what I have - over five years it would be a little less than the sales tax in my state and adding in property tax I'd never break even. I think we've just seen the start of what Borat Osama is creating in the USSA, so for me to buy anything it has to be with cash, and only once I've saved it up - no dipping into reserves. I just mailed my wealth redistribution stimulus too, so I may be a bit cynical at the moment.
When all else fails, flip a coin. You usually know on which side you are hoping it will land. There's your answer.
