You'll notice the difference between the two: the new headlamp / bulb has a sharper sut-off line and has more of an angle to the cutoff to reduce glare to oncoming traffic. You'll also notice there is more light toward the bottom of the door with a wider spread of light.

Here is a pic standing in front of the bike, you'll notice there is almost no glare from the new hwadlamp. A quick ride down the road and back reveals (no pun intended) more visible light immediately in fromt of the bike and a more intense light down the center of the lane with a bit more light that would aid in reading street signs. It was not quite dark, so another ride will be in order to see the differences between the new unit and the stocker.

Total so far:
Cibie 7" headlamp shell - $61, H4 OSRAM high efficiency bulb - $17, two H3 35w Spotlamp bulbs - $9 each. The spotlamp housings were on back order and will be here late next week. Once those arrive, will pull the fairing and rewire the spotlamy wiring with heavier guage wire (as reccomended by the website to minimize voltage drop) and add the Bosch relays.

Here is a final pic of the front of the bike looking at the headlamp, you can definitely see a difference.
