He's on an '09 SERG so that means it came from the factory that way. That is scary!

That was my thought when I read "Power Commander V" in the initial description.  Don't have a clue why an expandable plug like that would be used in the original assembly of the pipes.  But I also don't know their materials or assembly processes so couldn't do more than speculate when wondering why such a thing is there.

Of course finding on one's own away from the shop is only going to make the dealership say "uh, yeah right."  So there's likely little to be gained from taking it in and asking the question.  But if it's not used at all during assembly than it's some sick bastard's bad joke or malicious prank.  And neither of those are a good thing.

Yeah I've heard of that before. The culprit was probably looking to get back at the MocCo by having this act damage an engine so they would have to do a bunch of warranty work or at least get another bad rep for quaility and customer service. Who looks INSIDE the pipes at the dealership? I guess it may be worth it for others to look in theirs, however with the way your mufflers looked, it would be a easy as holding your hands over the rears to feel for exhaust pressure.

We've been to the York plant and both know that the MoCO could track down to the particular station where this happened. (If they wanted to)

Especially if it's a CVO...there's only 4 people that work on them ...

Well.... maybe.  The assembly line gets completed assemblies.  But where are the pipes built?  Plug could have been installed anywhere the pipes are handled.

Maybe the MOCO is getting in the Boating business.
It looks more like a plug that fits into the stern of my boat! :nixweiss: :nixweiss:

If I remember from the CVO plant tour...the headers and slippons are mounted separately.  (I don't think the headers and mufflers are installed as one completely assembled package...but I could be wrong. :)  )  Regardless, somewhere along the assembly line they should have seen that plug.   :-X

:o I think if you bought that bike new you should report it to the dealer. You  could have engine damage as a result and not know it for awhile! Best policy is make sure they know about it

this picture shows how I found this plug in the exhaust and I just finished up with the Fullsac baffles replacement and installing the power commander v w/auto tune.
So that adventure is done and the bike fired right up and seems to running alot cooler and smother.

WTF was this guy thinking???? Tuners will use that plug on the Dyno to temporally block off one side while they tune, then remove it.. I got it!~!!! He put that in there to increase the cross under velocity of the exhaust......new tuning theory...
