Talked with My Guy this mornin. Here's what he said........

"Well of course they want you to go to the dealer to change or work on your security system. That's why they went to the type of system they did!"

Kinda pukers yer purse don't it!

Long and short of it is.....the security system works directly with your ECM/TSSM and all other electronic features. Thats how it defeats the starting. Settings and control with the exception of your personal override pin must be done with the DigiTech. Simply replacing components will not work. (I am told). He says engine may not even start.

His best advice..........bite the bullet and have the dealer/service tech (usually for a minimum charge or even free to the dealer $good guy$) set the security into service mode, yank the battery from your FOB and never go near the bike again with it. Problem solved!

Just my 2c!

Sorry for the late replies! ???
Here they are in order:

Yep Scott, that WAS a good one and very funny! Was I supposed to answer it? ::) ;D ;D ;D
(but I'll still smoke his ass anytime, at least until he gets some motor work done, but even then too!) ::) :P :D :D :D

dj, the other side of the state east! You wanna be in The Adirondacks for the good riding in Upstate NY! The Finger Lakes Region is nice too, and that's much further west. But it ain't The Adirondacks!!! :2vrolijk_21:

SR, your solution leaves this device in your bike and functional, even turned off. The only way to remove it from the bike completely is to replace the TSSM with a standard TSM. And as you said, this MUST be done with the Digital Technician by and HD Tech only. Once it's out of the bike, it's as if you never had one, and never have to worry about it anymore cause IT'S GONE!!! ;)

Good advice Hoist  :2vrolijk_21: we finished this loop Wednesday afternoon. This experience caused a shift in my perspective of upstate NY. There are some serious boondocks in this area; very cozy, feels a lot like East Cheese Curd, Wisconsin.  :)

How was the ride down the east coast of MI?  we planned on doing that Saturday on our way home from the U.P. but it was pouring down rain.

It was an interesting drive; I’ve ridden a lot of lakeshore two-lane. The Wives loved the scenery and the cadence. My personal preference is for hill country or the crooked roads like those in and around North Carolina. We were very lucky and missed all of the nasty weather. Never put on the rain suit; although I did get a little damp once or twice.

The parts of the loop that I enjoyed were the lock on the St. Lawrence Seaway at Messena, NY.

The Adirondack’s were good.

I really enjoyed the overnight at the St. Claire Inn on the St. Claire River. The Inn is an old place with a lot of ambiance. We had a room on the second floor with a large rooftop balcony. The four of us finished a couple of bottles of wine while watching the boats run up and down the river. We saw a couple of 730 foot cargo ships returning up the river after unloading coal that was picked up from western Lake Superior.

We had a remarkable experience at a Ramada Inn in Uitica, NY. We arrived 15 minutes before their independently owned Restaurant closed. The Owner and Chef plated up all kinds of food from their Prime Rib Buffet and served it to us in the Bar. He charged us $18 apiece; I was absolutely blown away. I’m still working off that meal. I enjoyed the classic NY accent and attitude from the gang in the Bar.

Of course Niagara Falls was great; probably the most humid region on the planet with all of the moisture that the Falls puts into the atmosphere.

I also enjoyed the various Greasy Spoons that we stopped in along the way. One of my favorites was a place that I think was called the Breakfast Bar near Granby, NY. Looked like a family run operation and they close at 11:00 AM. Our cook was a young lady in her late 20’s or early 30’s that rides a ‘04 Low Rider. Very cozy joint.

The Mackinac Bridge is always a hoot!

We ran into a little “sleeper” café in Ironwood, MI. that is a keeper. I don’t remember the name, but the location is: N46 27 48.0 W90 08 49.2.
