TTS Mastertune is awesome!!
« on: September 11, 2010, 09:28:21 PM »

So my saga went like this..

Bought the bike, added Rinehart True Duals and SEST before I even picked it up.

Dealer I bought from didn't have a dyno, so they used a baseline map... probably from Harley.  It ran ok, but really generated a lot of heat and had a flat spot at 2500 rpms.

Got it dyno tuned from another dealer.  The bike ran good at traveling speed, but cold starts and a flat spot just off idle made the bike almost unrideable.

Did about 3 days of reading on TTS and decided (after talking with Doc) to bite the bullet.

Well.. the initial baseline tune from TTS (EUJ009), was much better than the dyno tune that was on it.

I have since run VTune twice and the bike runs better each time.  MUCH more rideable, smoother, better starts, just feels better all around.

I was dicking around with the cranking fuel table... trying to get it to fire on the first revolution like my carbed 95" Softail.  I went to far and couldn't get it to start when hot.  Just reloaded the previous tune.. and I'm  back in business!!

Great product!  Anyone that is toying with the idea of trying it out... DO IT!!

After you get good Vtunes, run the data feature to collect timing info. You can really dial it in good that way. Of course, if you really want to play, change Closed Loop Bias andthrottle Blade Control if it's a bagger. But you will need to start over on VEs and timing if you do... jb

My SESG is due to arrive around the first of October and have been trying to decide what to do regarding the tuning of the bike. I contacted my dealer and they recommended installing the SE Super Tuner then dyno tune the bike for a total cost of around $800.00. Dealer says it will make the bike run richer and cooler. So my question is what should I do? It sounds like installing the SE Super Tuner is a waste of money.
So should I get the TTS Mastertune and install it myself? Does the TTS require use of a dyno? How do you install the TTS software? How difficult is this process? Thanks

That is the same route I went... SEST and dyno tune... yop $800.00 down the drain.

Download the manual for the TTS.  Read it.  Ask questions.  Then go the TTS route.

The TTS will get you close enough... and in my case further than a dyno tune. (before anyone jumps on me, I know the importance of a qualified operator of the dyno. I am just speaking of my experience).

I will eventually take my bike to FL to visit Doc and have a cam added and then dyno tuned by him.

Gstreet... I am still dicking with the VE tables.  I haven't really digested the information on dialing in timing.  Does VTune make timing adjustment for you?

My bike is a '10 Street Glide.. so I have the Lambda calibration.

Installing the TTS software is cake...  you can download the software right from the TTS website... install the updater, then check off the DataMaster, VTune and Mastertune and it will self install.

Installing a tune is really easy as well... just follow the instructions in the manual.

Cost was around $450 from Doc.

You will do better on price if you buy it from Steve at Fullsac. He will also give you map updates if you ask when he dyno's something close to your setup.

www.fullsac.com or Fullsac Perf is his member name on here.

What about the heat issue? I couldn't get it dialed all the way out of my 2010 with a 103 (255 cams).

The heat coming off the rear cyl is not even close to what it was with the stock tune that came from the dealer.  If I rode for thirty minutes then stopped at a long red light it would invoke the EITMS.

Since the dyno tune and now the TTS install and Vtuning, EITMS has not activated once... and I have had some pretty long idle periods after running hard.. .dicking around with the laptop to make sure Data Collection was working.

You can just put your hand down by your thigh and feel there is less heat.

My 2009 103 with 255s runs pretty cool now. Mainly I had to remove some timing in a few places. Lower RPMs (like when stuck in traffic) are now set richer.

Talk to Doc. He may also be able to recommend a tuner near you
