Not a CVO bike.  However the wife has 57,000 miles on her 22 month old Heritage with no issues except one burnt stator at 54K.

Jim, regarding my friends 2001 Heritage, at about 180,000 miles he replaced the rings and put in S&S 510 gear drive cams. The original clutch was still good and believe it or not he was still on the original drive belt, which he replaced. The original heads were still good and required no work. Unfortunately shortly after  his new rings were  broken in disaster struck and his balancer chain tensioners went out. He didn't spell out the exact damage, but he had  to send his engine in to HD for a factory rebuild ( his dealer Glendale HD in Los Angeles pulled out his gear drive cams before shipping) because the damage was so severe. At this point he was up to $1400. for the ring and cams for parts and labor plus whatever HD charged for the engine rebuild. maybe he should have bit the bullet and got a new bike, tough decision since he got it new and is "attached" to it. Regarding your question; I don't know if you have to split the cases to inspect the balance chain tensioners, but I am sure one of the site members can tell us. Good Luck. CAHDBIKER

Cahdbiker,
I have been concerned about the balancer chain tensioners but as far as I know, a person would have to split the cases to inspect them??  How badly was your friend's engine damaged when the balancer chain tensioners went?
If they go bad, my wife will be wanting a 120 I think. It makes around 95/95 now.--Jim

Just ran into a guy with a 2003 Fat Boy with 140,000 on it......only modification was slip ons.....he says nothing else had been done or broke on the bike. I asked him about his tensioners and he replied that they had not been touched.

His dealer in Mass called him yesterday and told him his Blue trike is in....this guy had a 71 shovel, 99 fat boy, and the 03 fat boy of which none had been modified at all

After seeing my tensioners after 38,000 I'd say that is amazing.

Yeah, I could've bought 2 more Dressers for what I have in Ol' Maudie.  :nixweiss: Then again, I can't ride but 1 Motorsickle.  And, Ol' RedNeck North Carolinian Hot-Rodders like you and me ain't NEVER gonna' leave things alone.  There endeth the lesson.  ;) Later--HUBBARD

I am trying to do that on my RUSE.  I just have the fever (air cleaner, pipe and tune) not the full blown disease (cams, head work, etc, etc) but that is bad enough. Only real issue I have with it stock is that it is so damn HOT!

52,000 now, 42K since re-call work.  Only issue has been the broken injector wires on the rear cylinder.  Bike is running great, even though it uses a shade more oil than I would like. (quart every 2K or so).
