Just curious how many riders having problems after the 40,000 mile mark

I assume you mean all of us out there,  not just those with the 110 motor ...

I am right at 40k and climbing on the 103.  I have a few minor things that could use fixing when the time is right, but I would be willing leave on a nationwide tour today and not expect to have any issues till i got home.

41,000 miles and running good. Replaced the cam tensioners at 38,000, nothing else.

Close to 62,000 on my 06  SEUC running strong.

'98 road king with 124,000 miles. No problems to speak of, only time it ever quit was a bum coil.

Changed cam, cam followers and carburetor at 35k. Pulled the rockerbox covers when I changed cam because of a pinched gasket from the factory.

Still has the original final drive belt, primary chain and clutch. Just changed the rear tire and checked the cleve-blocks for looseness and they checked fine.

Would leave for either coast or both at any time.

     I have an 02 Springer Softail with 140,000 on it. Put cam chain tentioners in at 63K, put in 37B cams at 116,000 and big bore cyl and Super Stock heads at 126,000 --wife's bike now. I have an 06 Ultra with 85,ooo on it, built it to 95 in at 40k but it recently ate the oil pump so I need to rebuild it again. Have a 09 SEUC with only 11k on it so far. I am hoping that I get as many miles on it as my other bikes. I have done all of my own maintenance and builds but have a 7 year ESP on the SEUC. ---Jim

Jims09seuc, Hi Jim regarding your 02 Springer Softail. I think that would have the B rigid mounted motor. If that is correct, I was wondering if you ever inspected or changed out the tensioners on your engine balancers. My buddy has an  2001 Heritage and he had to change out his cam change tensioners twice in 180,000 miles, but he never thought about the tensioners on the engine balancers and they went out shortly thereafter. He sent his engine for a HD remanufacture and all is well. He is quite a bit over 200K now. Just wondered? CAHDBIKER

I have been concerned about the balancer chain tensioners but as far as I know, a person would have to split the cases to inspect them??  How badly was your friend's engine damaged when the balancer chain tensioners went?
If they go bad, my wife will be wanting a 120 I think. It makes around 95/95 now.--Jim
