i have replaced grips twice now also..  come to think :nixweiss:
There is only about 50% of the chrome left on my grips, but I figured it was because of not wearing gloves all the time and the acid/sweat from my hands has just eroded the chrome away.  Not peeling like the other problems. I'd change to another type of grips, but really like these and they have just the right amt. of metal vs. rubber t0 be most effective with the heat transfer from the heat demons.  Might just have to spring for a new pair of these and wear gloves all the time.  Glad I had on gloves that last time I rode also.  :'( har. spyder

Fatboy, I doubt  you're gonna get any help on parts peeling chrome that are that old.  I thing the bad chroming was more during the initial phase of the parts....prolly the parts you buy now will be ok.  Or, you could just re-chrome your pieces if you want to go to the extra trouble.  I'm going to do some of both on putting my wreck back together.  If you got mangled parts you have no choice but replace.  I had very little on my '04....one floorboard as I remember.  It was a very early '04 so maybe the later ones gave more problems peeling.  dunno.  YOu'll love that bike.  :-*  spyder

Always have admired this model, it was what lead to my Banana year later when I was able to cough up the cash. When this opportunity came up it was too good to pass up especially since the only changes of note were the matching chopped Tour pack and Rinehart pipes, AC and Tuner.

Sorry to hear of your accident, when will you be back in the wind?

Are they the same teardrop shape, Hogasm?  I'd like to have some that are not "objects are closer than they appear'   mirrors.  spyder

Part numbers 92447-11
                   92448-11

Stem is a little thicker
mirror has a flat outside radius
I'd say 85% of stock

Wow, almost 'stock' and you can do it the way you want without having to un-do anything.  I like my Rineharts.....flow good & sound nice and low/mellow and the 4" muffens fill that space nicely under the saddlebags.  I'll be riding again before cool weather (hopefully)...can't get off the pain meds to really know what's what.  Know more end of this month, maybe.  Ride safe, spyder
