I would say I had great luck with my chrome falling off :huepfenlol2:

Had 4 front rims and 3 rears replaced under warranty on the 04
Believe it was 7 sets of mirrors
couple of primary's
51 chrome items covered under warranty

the 05 rims and mirrors are starting to peel

Yep, fixin' to order another set of rider (front) boards for mine, Spider. :-\  Only thing that's had to be replaced more than once on mine, though.

I've changed out all four floor boards too.  Several times and I bought one mirror also. That mirror was 180 from jenny if I remember.  Worse than a darn coke habit :'(

Well, you probably know the current going price for those floor boards Brian.  Of course I'm gonna need the whole deal, bracket and all and not due to peeling chrome, rather bent to hell.  har.  spyder

I can't believe what those floorboards cost.   Be nice if they didn't pit again too. Spy,  we're just glad you're still here so you have the opportunity to buy all this stuff again.   It's like a privilege too :huepfenjump3:

Everytime the pain gets bad I remind myself of that.  Don't think I'll be buying but one side, even tho the other side has some boot heel scratches in the chrome on top. Might just replace the topside on that left one.  It doesn't drag in the corners due to the kickstand being lower on the left side, so it's not ground down like the other was anyway. :2vrolijk_21:  spyder

Just purchased new mirrors but went with the 11 Road Glide ones. Were 1/3 the cost and are real close to stock

Are they the same teardrop shape, Hogasm?  I'd like to have some that are not "objects are closer than they appear'   mirrors.  spyder

I don't know why those are so expensive. I just put a set on the SERG, which are the chrome and rubber design, because they had some light boot scuffs on them and I think they were about $60, or so, less.

Crazy, expensive SEEGs!  :P

I know..the 3 spoke Detonator wheels stock on the SEEGs are $1200 ....MoCo's most expensive wheels........guess it's cause the SEEGs are the best.  8) dunno?  :-\  spyder

Wow the issues with the 04 chrome is unbelieveable........ :nervous:

I just bought a low mileage (5300) B/B from a friend who hasn't been riding much since he got married 4 years ago.

Anyway we did the deal sight unseen as he lives several states away and he told me the wheels, grips and both front & rear floor boards are all flaking and peeling.

Figured it would give me a new project to work on over the coming month's.

Two questions I like to throw out to those in the know:

1. Can I expect any help from the MOCO on remedying the situation at this point?

2. Is re-chroming the parts a good option to pursue to solve the issue long term?

Original plan was to keep the bike as close to stock as possible but if buying new chrome parts repeatedly from the MOCO is necessary to keep it looking good I may change my plans and to a blacked out look for now. I really like the stuff PM and RSD have been putting out in black and contrast cut.....

Fatboy, I doubt  you're gonna get any help on parts peeling chrome that are that old.  I thing the bad chroming was more during the initial phase of the parts....prolly the parts you buy now will be ok.  Or, you could just re-chrome your pieces if you want to go to the extra trouble.  I'm going to do some of both on putting my wreck back together.  If you got mangled parts you have no choice but replace.  I had very little on my '04....one floorboard as I remember.  It was a very early '04 so maybe the later ones gave more problems peeling.  dunno.  YOu'll love that bike.  :-*  spyder
