Heatwave - The bike is a 2010 SE Ultra Classic

There is about 1/4" gap between the bottom of the amp wiring plug and fender - it's close but there should not be any movement in the rack.  There is about a 1/2" between the top of the license plate and bottom of the amp depending on where you actually locate the license plate.

I will probably go with the Kuryakyn lay down plate above the light as I too do not want to cover up the CVO emblem by putting the plate below the light - just haven't made the decision to drill the holes in the fender.  To put the plate at the back of the rack I would have to fab a couple of brackets similar to the ones that came with the detachable rack - probably not going to happen besides I believe the lay down plate above the light looks better when the rack is off.

I agree it would be nice to have a lot smaller amp powering all speakers located in the fairing.

Thanx for posting the description. I am just thinking of ordering the 2010 black CVO, and I want the detachable Tourpak option for sure. Very helpful stuff!  :2vrolijk_21:

Bluegoose, what do you do with the harness when you take off the Tour pak?

There is enough room to put the harness under the seat - just roll it up and use some zip ties.

Actually I'm considering going with an aftermarket amp under the fairing - the amp under the tour pack is just a pain to deal with.

Century HD in Medina, Ohio did my 2010 CVO tour pak detachable. The way it was done the amplifier stays with the tour pak when it comes off. One plug goes back in and I have sound out the front speakers. Did a great job. Give them a call

MG, any chance you could post some pictures of the tour pak mod done by your dealer? Thanks

How about some pictures?  This thread is old and I don't see any pictures from you so I'm guessing you are long gone, but it's worth a try. =)

Thanks to everyone who has participated in this topic.  I am getting ready to tackle this on my 2011 UC.

I installed the detachable kit on my '09 (non CVO) UC and there was a CB relocation kit that allowed me to relocate the CB antenna down between the bag and the frame similar to how the AM/FM antenna gets relocated.  I'm thinking the same kit should work for the '11 CVO.
I like the tour pack when I need the space, but it sure is ugly sitting up there.  Can't wait to get it off.
