JR - when I first got the bike home I decided to lock the forks manually...in doing so the steering locked and when I turned the switch the forks stayed locked.  I contacted the dealer and they sent a tech out to the house the next day (actually Sunday) and he made a temporary fix on it until the new switch/lock assembly comes in.  When I turned the switch to lock it did not operate as smooth as my other touring models I've owned in the past...it had a rough/course feel to it.  If your feels like it has some friction or roughness in it when you manually go to lock it...then I recommend you stop by the dealer and let them check it out.

That is exactly how it felt only it was when I was coming from lock position to ignition. I forgot about it since it hasn't happened lately and will let my dealer know...Thanks man, God Bless! :2vrolijk_21:

I did not know CVO's were no longer "hand Built". Are they at least looked over from start to finish by one person like they used to be?

I thought I was getting something special. I feel very disappointed.  :-\

All bikes on the main assembly line.  "Hand built" had its problems too.  There is no panacea in the world of Harley assembly methods.

I went to this past York Open House and saw a few CVO's on the line. I assumed that "one person" was still with the bike during production. I didn't click when I was there that they were actually part of the line.

No biggie. I still love my bike! I see them on this site and in the past at a few dealerships but I have yet to see one on the road which is cool.

Noticed that on mine after a visit to the dealer for 1k service.

All you got to do is screw in the bolts at the bottom by the forks first (not tight), then align the inner/outer fairing with a little pressure, lightly tighten the bolts by the speakers.  Then last do the windshield and go around to all to tighten.  Seems the inner fairings are a bit too wide and unless you start by securing the wingtips it won't go on straight.

hdtrader, I have an 09 SEUC so I don't have the auto lock ignition ( I think that is what you guys are talking about), but when I picked my bike up I noticed the saddlebag, and tourpak worked great if I used the remote, but when I tried to turn them manually they were all stiff. I lubed them, and the ignition with some spray on lubricating oil (sprayed into where the key goes) they went from rough feeling to nice and smooth. A little lube goes a long way.CAHDBIKER (somehow this thread went from front fairing gasket to sticking locks, but I felt like I needed to share my experience with my locks)

Sometime after 2009 models they changed the outer fairing (new suffix on the part #) and the new one doesn't fit very well. I got a replacement in 2010 for my fairing  (paint defects, what else!) and on noticing the different fit, checked the two together and noticed the diffeent part #

Well that is pretty lame. Spend all that money on a part revision to be the same part and it doesn't fit.  ???

Have some of the same quality issues on my bike.  I was told by my dealer the ignition lock issue is due to incorrect assembly at the factory.  They lubed mine to help but that did not last long.  Will not always unlock with the fob and is rough when turning from lock to any other position.  My gas cap emblem and fender emblem are both assembled poorly.  Gas cap emblem is off center and fender emblem is crooked.  Sent a letter to Harley complaining about it and they called and told me to talk to my dealer.  Like they could care less about what is happenin in the factory just let the dealers fix the issues.

Just like the old day at General Motors (and the others I guess).  Just shove 'em out the door and let the dealers handle the issues.  We all know how well that turned out for them.

The 2009's were the last CVO's to be hand assembled by teams in the "little CVO shed" behind the main factory building.  Now they get the same wonderful quality control as the regular line.

I too am profoundly dissapointed to learn my CVO was not hand assembled.  I have noticed initials or names on pieces of it, but I feel that we are being decieved by the Motor Company!   >:(

...my 2012 FLHTCUSE7 is the same as yours...it was also the same on a previous 2010 Limited I owned too.  I will remove the front fairing and reposition the gasket or seal myself.  I also have a defective ignition lock from day one and its on order along with a the CVO Logo for the fuel door...it was installed off-centered from the factory.  This is not the quality of workmanship I expected from the CVO team.

What does the CVO logo on the fuel door look like? Mine is plain chrome and I've been trying to figure out what I want to do with it. I was even thinking of having the CVO logo engraved in it.
