Front fairing

On my 2012 Ultra the front fairing does not line up the same on both sides of the windshield. One side shows the black gasket and the other side is covered up by the fairing. Looks to me like no way to adjust. I'll post pictures

Hard to tell from the images.  Is the fairing significantly different from side to side or is the gasket just rolled underneath on one side?

Mine on my 2010.5 is the same way. I asked a tech and he said that the Motor company just isn't making them like they used to and that the last couple of yrs it has been getting worst with aligning the fairing holes up after they take the outer off.

I had that very same issue on my 2010 Street Glide.  All it was is that the gasket was put on wrong by the factory.  The dealer took the factory one off and put a new one on and everything looked fine.  It's probably not the fairing lining up, but how the gasket was installed.

I sent the pictures to the dealer and he said he can fix it. Not sure how as the seal looks perfect. I'll post after he fixes it.

...my 2012 FLHTCUSE7 is the same as yours...it was also the same on a previous 2010 Limited I owned too.  I will remove the front fairing and reposition the gasket or seal myself.  I also have a defective ignition lock from day one and its on order along with a the CVO Logo for the fuel door...it was installed off-centered from the factory.  This is not the quality of workmanship I expected from the CVO team.

HDtrader, since the CVO's are now supposedly built on the same line as the non-cvo's it's no surprise unfortunately.

Thanks gg.  So this manufacturing move is our loss and their gain...one of H-D's "Value Added"...for the MOCO.

The 2009's were the last CVO's to be hand assembled by teams in the "little CVO shed" behind the main factory building.  Now they get the same wonderful quality control as the regular line.

I noticed my ignition switch after I unlocked it a couple times and went to turn it that it wasn't right. Didn't allow me to go to ignition all the way. went back in lock position and finally went to ignition. Maybe mines bad too! happened a couple times and wasn't sure if it had to do with the new key fob locking system compared to my SEEG which I had to push the button to arm. Then there was some glue on the fuel tank lid that didn't come off when they prep my bike. They ordered me a new one when they scratched it trying to get it off. That eye sore is gone after they replaced the door and my CVO logo is straight...Thank God! ;D :2vrolijk_21:

;D   I love how folks keep harping on that, as if the old bikes that were thrown together out in a converted hallway were perfect but now that they are assembled on the real assembly line they are a POS.  I hate to burst any bubbles (OK, that's a lie, I love bursting bubbles), but the old method didn't result in good quality either.  Plenty of maladjusted or misaligned parts, plenty of loose parts, lots of defects in general.

Not saying the general line assembled CVOs are POS's, but I know from personal experience, I've had more loose bolts, poorly assembled, chipped, scratched, mis-aligned parts in the CVOs I've gotten since they moved to the general assembly line, then I ever had on my bikes that were assembled in the "shed out back".

JR - when I first got the bike home I decided to lock the forks manually...in doing so the steering locked and when I turned the switch the forks stayed locked.  I contacted the dealer and they sent a tech out to the house the next day (actually Sunday) and he made a temporary fix on it until the new switch/lock assembly comes in.  When I turned the switch to lock it did not operate as smooth as my other touring models I've owned in the past...it had a rough/course feel to it.  If your feels like it has some friction or roughness in it when you manually go to lock it...then I recommend you stop by the dealer and let them check it out.
