Ocean going barge on the Tennessee River hits a bridge over US68 in Kentucky.  With all the modern nav onboard how do you not know a big assed bridge is out there?  Oh, and to top it off, the barge was on its way to Cape Canaveral.  The ship is carrying an Atlas 5 rocket....   Oy vey.
Ya know, I was raised in Paducah and now some 30 years removed, but still go back every year. Never saw a boat like that on the Tennessee, Ohio or Missippi rivers. Strange, I guess things change.

My guess is he must have forgot to pay attention to lake levels.

All the TN River, and the lakes that are made by the dams on the river should be at winter pool this time of year.  They should be down 20 to 30 inches  from summer pool depending on the lake.  With all the rains we have had lately, the water level is well above summer pool.  I know at my house we are 18 inches above summer pool, or 4 feet higher water level than it should be this time of year.

You would think a captain would know to check water level, if the river is high, bridge clearance is low.

That was the cumberland river bridge, Barkley lake, on the East side of LBL. The bridge that collapsed was on the Tennessee river, Ky lake, or the west side of LBL.

That's exactly what I thought.  It looks like the shot was taken from the very spot you so generously contributed 5 gallons of diesel to the environment on my behalf.  :huepfenlol2: :huepfenlol2:
