You've got to be kidding. They only replaced one bearing while doing this warranty work??
I keep thinking the MOCO "customer service" has hit rock bottom, but I guess not...
Just read that too and first thought was "no way." First reaction is there had to be some error in translation; that they wouldn't really do that and the service writer just didn't convey the service report well.
But this is Harley. So you do believe it.
Even more onerous and frustrating is that if you went in for normal paid service with a bad wheel bearing they'd replace both as a matter of (correct) policy and never ask you the question. So replacing one as a warranty job isn't them being solely stupid. It's them being so damned cheap they created new ways to be intentionally stupid.
Having dealt with both far too many times I can testify intentionally stupid (and the lazy parsimony that goes with or causes it) is far more annoying and far more dangerous than is simply stupid or uninformed. Intentionally stupid makes mistakes on purpose; regardless of any possible common sense. At least the merely uninformed allows some level of thought to creep in to the process and acts with it rather than intentionally against it.
Yet another illustration of why Harley won't get a dime from me for another new bike. Just won't happen. Even though I'd forfeit the warranty and do the work myself the company just doesn't deserve the patronage. Crap like this is why there was no angst releasing the red bike a few months ago. It's almost embarassing to find yourself interpreted as in some way patronizing a company that allows or reinforces the behaviors it does. All the bikes could go away and I'd ride a Wing and not care one little bit. Still ride. Still two wheels. Screw 'em.
