Harley really stuffed the 2012-13 mufflers with packing! I remove half by cutting the blanket in half and loosely wrapping the core.
You want the core to breath. The increased volume in the muffler gives a deeper tone and recent dyno testing suggest better bottom end power too.

Seeing your 2.25 SD power cores are shipping to me Today, this is very good information.  I used your 2.25 baffles on my 09 SERG.

I will be using these on a 13 CVO King.  I take it you would use half the packing on these too?  Would you also only wrap the baffle part, or would you do it the same as above?

I've been running them for a few days with the full wrap. I am going to remove half the wrap this weekend and hear what they sound like then all of it andmake the decision. Hurricane coming in and can't ride anyways. I know I won't be happy until I put the x-pipe on!

If you have the cat in front, you may not notice any difference. You could pull it all out just for fun. That will give you an idea of the range you have with
adjusting the tone and sound level. After you remove the cat, you can start all over again!

I think I will, I had the regular 2.25 cores on my 09 SERG for three years.

With the 12 SERG I tried and have the Fuel Moto Jackpot pro tours on it, I like them, but not 430 dollars more than I liked the 2.25 on the 09.

So for the 13 CVO RK its the 2.25 SD cores and if I do not like them I will just order the regular 2.25, I know I like them.

They are at the house, with the head pipe and tuner waiting on the bike.

I pick the bike up Wednesday.  Hope to do the installation Wednesday night.
