Removable paint protector film
« on: January 19, 2013, 08:03:24 AM »

I remember seeing on this site a guy who put some ugly paint protection film on his fairing and fender for a two week trip, then removed it when he got home.  Does anyone know what it was. I'm going to Alaska this summer and would like to cover things for 3 weeks and then remove it easily. Help------------and thanks

This thread talks about the film you're looking for. http://www.cvoharley.com/smf/index.php?topic=81517.0

The various films are all removeable, but I get the impression that's not what you're talking about.  Those look good when installed correctly and aren't just for temporary use.  Are you perhaps talking about the spray coating that you wash off with a power washer?  I can't think of the name of it, but it was promoted as a bug and scratch resistant temporary protective coating.  Depending on how thick you spray it on, the appearance isn't great but there again it's meant to be temporary. :nixweiss:

I finally found it. Had it bookmarked.  http://www.cvoharley.com/smf/index.php?topic=65112.0

It's called Road Warrior Paint Protector and is rolled on with a paint roller.  Several professional painters still use and sell it. (see links) Also, J&P cycles carries it.  It's about $50/qt, which would do a bike many times over.  I think I'll try some. It may save a lot of chips.
