:bananarock:  I agree 100% for the money you pay for these 'top of the line' machines. you would expect HD to ensure they are built with only quality parts AND ensutre a full QA is completed prior leaving their manufacturing facility. My bike arrived with faulty fairing and required replacing, I have friends whose bikes arrived with rusty foot pegs and the list goes on.
As you say, the ride is near perfect, although I fail to understand why they have yet to fix the death wobble on the road glides.
This is my 2nd CVO and must admit the first one (2006 electra glide ultra) was perfect. just blow up AFTER fitting new oil pump bearing assy(HD supplied) by moco.
HD funded all repairs as admitted bearing plate/bearings faulty.
So, can only assume since 2006, they have changed their parts suppilers AND the quality has been affected accordingly.
I wonder what their warranty repair costs are and if anybody is working to get it reduced, Reduce warranty cost = better QA = increase profit = Enhanced customer satisfaction = improved CVO feedback = more CVO sales....SIMPLES!  :2vrolijk_21:

The only issue I have had with my 11 SESG was the fairing speakers and amp which is a documented problem. I think the biggest issue is the dealer you have to deal with. If it's a dealer that sells numerous CVO's and does a lot of volume and has top notch techs, your chances of getting it fixed or trouble shot correctly the first time are much better than a smaller dealer, IMHO.

I've had zero problems with 3 new Harleys since 1997, only normal maintenance items like tires, batteries, fluids.  Never stranded and the only disappointment was lackluster power, that is until I got the CVO SG in 2012, it's adequate but am going to get it dyno tuned by DOC.   :P

That's why I got an ESP on the cvo...to much to go wrong..big hot running motor..spec paint..8 speaker stereo with 2 amps..as long as its covered its all good...as long as I'm not getting work done every weekend...

The ESP doesn't cover cosmetic items like paint or chrome.

Here's where MoCo Quality went !

Same volume with 2000 less employees

HD article was in the Washington Post

http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/...onomy/?hpid=z3

Doing more with fewer workers. Rising productivity is the key to rising wealth over the long-term, but over short time periods, it is part of the story of high unemployment. And Harley-Davidson has had great success building more motorcycles with fewer people. The company started 2012 with 6,000 employees in its motorcycle division, who shipped 247,625 of them. That works out to more than 41 motorcycles produced per worker. Compare that to a decade ago. The company started 2002 with 8,100 workers, who produced 263,653 units. That’s 33 motorcycles per worker. In other words, the company is making pretty much the same volume of output as it did a decade ago, but with more than 2,000 fewer employees. That is great for shareholders:

But Sucks for the motorcycle buyers ... quality wise - IMHO ... explains alot ...
