in regard to ammo, 22lr specifically, I use to buy 5k rounds at the local gun show for $180. Delivered to my door in two days for 200. CCI blazers too.
This was up till a few years ago. Try and find a case now, if you do it'll be 600 er so.

The manufactures still producing them at record levels. If panic buying was the case that would have subsided by now. Where the hell is all the 22 ammo going??

glad I have a round er two put up myself.

I think the price of ammo is directly related to the amazing gun sales over the past few years. Several gun manufacturers are back logged 6 months.

Can everyone quit buying guns so I can find even the basics (22 LR, 380 Auto, 9 mm, 45 ACP & 223/5.56) to go blinking? 1 year ago you could find it all stocked at the local gun stores. Now, it's all gone!

Palmetto Armory in SC has good deals from time to time. When they run a free shipping deal its the best around, get on their mailing list and all you have to do is dump the ones you don't want. Bought 300rds of Federal 5.56 for $119.70 shipped, hard to beat that.

With every manufacturer jumping on the AR platform in .22LR it's no surprise.
Where I once use to take the 22's to the range only when the kids or Deb went, they are now a staple in bag, .06 - .07 versus .45+ a round

So people are hoarding whatever they can get. 22 around here is still consider the ultimate round to stock up on for when the SHTF.
Lightweight, can store a lot in minimal space and still lethal.

My 22 AR now goes with me every time to the range, since it is the only rifle allowed at any of our shoot stations, including indoors.

Luckily my range is in my front/back/side yard. 10yrs ago used to go through at least a brick a week, no AR at the time. Got 2 now and never even bought the .22 conversion. Can't hardly find it and if you do its .10/.12 a pop. Gotta keep mine for the Zombie Apocalypse.
