Need rear shock advice for '15 CVO RGU
« on: February 01, 2015, 08:28:49 PM »

I've read all I can find on the forum (I think) and see references to Ohlins 157, Ohlins 159 and Ohlins HD357's.  My dealer says the HD357's are the way to go; but he has steered me down some  curvy roads on this new bike.  Only 500 miles on it, but the ride is horrible.  I am 185 lbs and it is really rough riding; with 2 up it gets worse. Adjusting the air in the stock shocks seems, well...not worth the trouble for the results you get. Prior to dumping $1,500 in a set of shocks, has anyone tried them on this model bike and have input?

Check out this section, specials in this type stuff.  http://www.cvoharley.com/smf/index.php?board=34.0

That said, the Ohlin HD-159 are a great shock and what I have on my 15 SERGU.

This is my third road glide, the first two handled much better.  This was due to using a non air shock.  Had Progressive 944's on the 09 SERG, the 12 SERG came with HD premium low, which I felt were just a bit better than the progressives.  I have between my 12 SERG and my 13 SERK 55K miles on the hd premium low.

The Ohlin HD 159 are much better.  So much so looking at adding them to my 13 SERK in the future.  The back end is firm, not harsh, rebound is controlled, and the bike no longer feels like it will wash out.

Absolutely gotta agree with Dave, I have 159's, had them on my 2011, moved them to my 15 SERGU, won't ever put up with a stock shocks again.
