My 09 SERG has 57k miles with original cam bearings and lifters. I'm going to install new Fueling lifters
Inner cam bearings seem okay but not sure??
Advice?
Absolute insanity IMO not to change the inner cam bearings and O-rings (and gasket) for $35 and check out the runout, the cam plate and oil pump for scoring etc and shoes for wear if you're replacing the lifters. IMO you have been skating on thin ice for a long time. Eventually you will find yourself swimming in a cold and desperate state of hope that the damage from failure hasn't exponentially increased the cost of fixing the things that would never have needed fixing if some preventative measures and a little extra time had been spent while you were there replacing the lifters. Also a great time to change the cams if that interests you. The labor is already done at that point. Of course that would increase cost more than the extra $35 mentioned above because you'd be out the additional cost of a tune and the cams.

Definitely will install new tensioners, gaskets, etc. and will probably go with the upgraded cam plate and pump while I'm at it.
HD doesn't sell the cam bearing remover/installer to non Harley tech's so I will have to get one from an aftermarket supplier like Jim's
Crank runout is .0002 - maybe I just got lucky and got a good crank ..... The old bird has 57k miles on her

Gary Beatty makes a great inner cam bearing tool for removing and installing. Ive had a couple of them for several years. I think I paid $94 shipped to my door and used them countless times. JIMS tools are great but Im not a fan of their engine components. I'd like to hear how their new lifters do but I don't expect to get a lot of feedback on them due to others having the same sentiments and the price point on them. Georges Garage has nice tools also at a reasonable cost and hes good to deal with also. I probably have 15-20 of his tools.

Thanks for the info; called a friend of mine and he has the tools and he's willing to give me a hand changing the inner bearings.
Gotta love having great friends !!
