My scoot needs some paint ideas?
« on: February 14, 2015, 07:59:03 AM »

So after going down on the way to Sturgis last year. My scoot is just about back to normal. I love the Orange but I think it needs some flames or scallops.
Some kind of subtle change from all Orange.
Please give your thoughts on style and color.
Thanks Steve

Hey Steve,
I am probably in the minority here but I kinda like the current look...sorta old school looking. Maybe an old style tank emblem, wire wheels and some phat whitewalls to finish it off. Just a thought.
Good Luck with your mods and Stay Safe!

Custom paint is a personal choice but if your partial to flames how about laying some tangerine pearl flames over the orange base?

I know the pics not a bike but kinda like this:

If you want more flash you can have two layers of flames (or more) laid down in contrasting colors. I had my painter lay down some violet pearl and silver/white pearl flames over the purple base on the Fatboy. on the orange I personally would go with a layer of tangerine pearl flames over a layer of some shade of gold pearl flames, add the accent pinstripe of your choice. But as I said custom painting is a personal choice and what I or anyone else likes really doesn't matter - go to a few custom painters in your area and talk over your ideas with them, the good ones will offer some honest feedback and give you some suggestions on what themes and colors work well together.

Might look at water transfer printing, it opens up a whole different world of ideas.  Skulls, flames, Harley emblems blended with both.  Hmm.

Every Rider has different preferances to color and design just as you change bars, seats, pegs etc. Go with what you want and can afford. If you listen to someone else you may regret it. Look at different paint jobs online.  Find out prices and make your decision. Sometimes it's a combination of ideas.

I bet some 3D looking flames in black like they have on the 2015 CVO street glide, against your orange bike would be awesome. I would bet that Joe with Xtreme Dimension could pull that off.

I only have one painter that I use. He is a artist and good at it.
I told him what theme I was after and told him to create something and he did, this bike is red but orange would do just fine. all in 3 D
This is a Honda but you get the idea.

This in natural flames rolling into red marble

I think the ghost flame style on the Bug that Phato1 posted a picture of, with one of the classic Harley tank badges would look fabulous.  :orange:  :orange:
The solid orange needs something to spice it up a bit without be overbearing.

Just my $0.02 worth.

Can't resist sharing photos of my bike- it has the subtle ghosted/3D flame going on. The black areas actually have a green pearl top coat, which gives it a great look in the sun.  I gave my painter very little guidance at first- and he helped me find the perfect design and color scheme for my tastes.
