Front and rear lowering kit on 2015 CVO Limited
« on: February 24, 2015, 08:05:28 PM »

Doing a lowering kit on the front and rear. The kit for the front has springs and damper tubes. What is the difference in the stock damper tube vs. the ones in the lowering kit?

Trying to figure out if where the lowering comes from, the spring, the tube, or both. Wanted to cheat and just drop the spring in from the top and not have to disassemble the lowers.

Here is a link to the Harley lowering fork kit instructions for the 2015 touring models, P/N 45500157.
This is a engineered assembly and you can't shortcut the process by only using the springs.

What part number kit are you looking at CVO Couple?  When I did a search of the H-D catalog for 2014-2015 Touring the only lowering kit that came up is the one mentioned in the previous post.  That kit has a damper rod on one side, and a cartridge on the other.  You can't just use part of the kit.

Make sure you aren't looking at kits designed for 2013 and earlier bikes.  The forks changed in 2014, and those older kits won't fit the new larger fork tubes.  If all you want to do is change the springs, you can find that sort of thing in the aftermarket.  IMHO, if you're going to do this, you will get the best results if you upgrade the damping at the same time.

Yep. Looks like they sold me the wrong front kit. Looks like you have to upgrade to the premium ride kit to lower the front.

Is there a good aftermarket company for a front lowering kit?

Progressive Suspension has been pretty good in the past, don't know what they have for the latest models though.

Progressive suspension has both a monotube kit (from stock height down to 2" lower http://www.progressivesuspension.com/product/1507/monotube-cartridge-kit-for-hd-touring) and a front fork lowering kit http://www.progressivesuspension.com/product/1462/fork-lowering-kit

I've used the Progressive monotubes only on pre-Rushmore bikes, so I can't say how they are for yours.  I can say that any lowering is going to make the ride much harsher.  HTH

Whould the SE oil work better in the fork than the type E the manual calls for. Im installing the premuim ride lowering kit in the front? How does the oil affect the ride?
