Thinking about doing a trike out of my 2008 CVO, thoughts are, I have 2 other CVO's , 2010 SG and a 2011 RG at my winter place, thus don't need similar bikes at this point.  I have like most spent a fair amt on the upgrades and my math is simple thinking, If I sold the bike , 20-25,000
Then to buy a new trike as I saw in Daytona from HD with lots of stuff it should have any way it's 45,000 then I still will do dumb stuff, where if I had it converted from a Trike Company, looks like at most is 20,000 and I still have a great bike in a great color that gives me the advantage of safety as I get a little older when the wife on the back. Any thoughts , experiences etc, would be appreciated
Thanks

I *wish* I had your dilemma !
Sorry I'm not any real help but I think sticking with a bike that you know/love to convert makes a lot of sense to me.

I like Champion and Hannigan kits, both with IRS. I believe Baker has a new reverse setup that you push a button while in first gear, shift down one more time and your in a gear driven reverse. Pull up to first and it disengages. Cost around $4,000.00 installed I hear.  Would definately go with the raked front as well.

The only thing that has kept me from buying aTri Glide is then straight axle.  Saw a 2012 CVO  trike on cycle trader looked nice.

Keep us posted would love to see it.

I've heard of these guys before. They're local to me but I have no info other than a link to their website.

I have a Motortrike Trog conversion on my CUSE3 of which I had converted in November of 2008. Have put 42,000 miles on it and have never had a problem. Love the trike and could have sold many times to offers but would not. Some folks may disagree but the solid axle kits are simpler and handle better in the twisties.  I can keep up with any two wheel Harley. Took a few months to learn how to handle it properly but after that I wouldn't go back. Been riding two wheels for over 55 years so I consider myself experienced.

I've owned one of the 2012 HD Trikes and it wasn't for me. The solid axle will beat you on rough roads, and it was like riding a hunting 4 wheeler at deer camp.

I thought the CSC trike kit was very nice and I would most likely go with that if I were to trike my current bike. Good luck with your search.

Maybe rear tire air pressure was an issue. 18 to 20 lbs produce a good ride and proper handling on mine. Run 225x55x15 on mine and very good ride. Have air shocks set at 25 lbs.

Look forward to seeing your photos. Just remember to steer into a turn like you would in your car. After riding two wheels, your brain will want to tell you to do the opposite. Time in the saddle will cure this want to balance reaction.  If you have not done so, you may want to include the EZ Steer triple clamp. It gives the trike more rake and cuts down on steering effort. Also include the mechanical reverse as you will find you will need it. Both items are well worth it in the long run and the trike shop will have them.

There's been a number of CVO trikes posted on this forum.  Dean Nelson is a member of this forum and he's posted a couple of his CVO trikes in years past.

Here's a post I did in the past.....  http://www.cvoharley.com/smf/index.php?topic=86884.msg1155526#msg1155526

Update:

Motor Trike, Inc.

I have determined I need to share my experiences with others so perhaps they may reconsider buying any products from Motor Trike Inc. and  2-3-4 Motorsports. 907 S. Eagle Valley Rd , Wingate, PA 16823, owner Doug Miles, which is the dealer I paid and dealt with here in PA.

The short version is, I converted my 2008 HD SE Ultra Classic to a trike, 234 Motorsports picked up my bike end of March 2015 delivered it back on July 6, 2015. Within 1 mile on my initial ride the bike broke down and was eventually towed to Erie Harley-Davidson to figure out what had happen. Like I said short version as most of the information you won't believe , but it's true, and I have pictures to prove it.

The first issue we found was the clutch was put back together by 234 Motorsport with, hold on, flat washers and super glue. The reason being was that Motor Trike Inc. supplied the dealer the wrong clutch rod in the kit. Basically it was a 1/2 inch short, and the dealer used flat washers like you would find at a hardware store to shim the slave cylinder , in the Master cylinder a washer had been also super glued to the plunger which eliminated the free play.

Then I take the bike out for a test drive, only to find out I only have a right turn signal working and a brake light on the hand side not on the foot brake. It appears that 234 Motorsports had attached the wiring in the rear fenders on the wall with "Duck Tape" thus the wires fell down, rubbed against the tire and were cut thus no rear lights.

I paid over $20,000 to 234 Motorsports to build my bike, but I then had to pay the Erie Harley- Davidson Dealer and others approximately $3,000 to find and fix problems that were not there fault, during their busy summer season. As of Oct 3, 2015 the bike is finally safe to ride and I will be heading to Daytona Beach. My bike and pictures of all I have described will be in front of the Motor Trike Inc. display in October and again in March at Bike Week 2016 for all to see.

Based on Motor Trike Inc. customer service dept representative, Richard, I was to take the bike to the Harley Dealer, they have not offer a penny in covering my costs and nether has 234 Motorsports , because somehow it's my fault they used super glue, flat washers and duck tape to assemble my bike.

So the 2015 Motorcycle ridding season was a lost one for me here in Erie, PA

Thanks for reading
