Bought a 2007 CVO Road King !!!
« on: March 14, 2015, 02:41:10 AM »

Well everyone, I couldn't make a deal on that 05' CVO Fat Boy (its still at Fox River HD if any one is interested...). And I got to thinking maybe a bagger would be a better buy for the long term...And just then, an 07 CVO Road King popped up for sale at another dealer across town. The price was right so I went and checked it out today, test rode it, and the rest is history. I signed all the papers this morning, rang the bell, and am now the proud owner of a beautiful CVO Road King!!!!..Previous owner is the district manager of the Windy City Harley group (5 or so dealers around the Chicagoland area?)...I was told he did some head work and put in better SE cams than what came stock on the CVOs...I get details on this tomorrow!!..It Has the 110" engine, 6spd tranny, about 29K miles.....Just had its 30K service before they sold it to me. Tires and brake pads were replaced over the summer. Color is Candy Cobalt with Pale Gold Leafing Graphics....It is stunning...Has full Rinehart true duals...Sounds like a freakin' monster!! The torque on this thing is insane. They told me between 115 and 120lbs...sweeeeeeeeeet. Sure felt like it!!!

Anyway, I think I made a better choice going with the King over the Fat Boy. Stronger engine, that 6th gear, and it'll be super comfortable on longer rides that i plan on doing. I'm going to have her for the long haul!!

You made(or got lucky) a wise decision. No other scoot made rides like a bagger. Not to mention the extra cargo space.

You chose wisely.   Long live the King!

Beautiful bike and a great choice. The Fat Boy didn't happen for a reason. I think long term you will be much happier. The Fat Boys are nice but if you really start putting on mileage and more long distance trips you will be not only more comfortable but be able to safely carry more.

Great looking bike, you will sure enjoy it.  Good choice.

I have a 03 Fatboy, and I also have a 13 CVO King.  The King rides better, corners faster, handles better, and hauls more stuff in comfort.

you should get full service records for the bike.  A few things to keep an eye out for
- Cam bearing have been an issue.  Assume they were change with the cam, but check the invoice
- During the cam install they should have checked the crank runout.  If not, something you want to keep an eye out on
- stock lifters did not last.  Many failed around 20-30K miles.  If they have not been changed this would be the first thing I would do.  Many early 110" blew up do to bad lifters
- Assume the stock compensator has been changed as I don't it lasted 30K miles, but check to ensure they used a SE version when replaced

Thanks everyone! And thanks JKM, I'll keep an eye on all that.

Put about 40 good miles on her today. Ran like a dream! Coming from a Honda, this thing is huge! haha ...But smooth! And...STRONG! I couldn't be happier!
