Anybody put slip-ons one a CVO deluxe?
« on: March 16, 2015, 02:35:45 PM »

Just curious did you have to remap? Got the five year warranty on my bike and I'm a little concerned on the warranty issue with adding pipes and tuner.

If your just replacing stock cans with slip-ons and keeping the stock head pipe and air cleaner you'll be fine with no ecm adjustment...RIDE ON....POPS

Just curious did you have to remap? Got the five year warranty on my bike and I'm a little concerned on the warranty issue with adding pipes and tuner.

Just an FYI:  That term  "five year warranty" is misleading. The new bike warranty is 2 years; then the ESP (Extended Service Plan) kicks in for 3 more years.  ESP is not warranty (although dealers and many others call it that), and the consumer protections are completely different.  The last time I read the conditions of ESP (run by CNA at the time), it said that any changes to the engine voided the ESP--and they have the right to do that because it's written in the contract language.  And because many of them have lost big money covering repairs to entire engines taken out by low quality original parts (like $100 tappets), they send out an experienced adjuster to inspect for any reason to void the (ahem) "warranty."  And it's void forever.

Be careful reading just the sales brochure; many of them don't have the fine print.  The fine print is on the actual ESP sales contract, which most don't give you until you're buying the product.  So get a copy of the actual contract and read it before you decide.

Note:  Most HD local dealers make a big effort to get the ESP to cover for their own customers, sometimes even hiding the offending parts from the inspector, but there's no guarantee they or a non-local dealer will do so.  A buddy bought a used Tri-Glide and an ESP on it. He installed a hitch only for a flag mount.  His differential went bad after about 2 months (~ 14k total miles) and the local dealer didn't warn him about the hitch.  Inspector voided the ESP and buddy was out $5200 and the cost of the ESP.

Thanks for the info..
Slip-ons can be changed back to stock if she needs to go back to the dealer.  8) thats why I was  considering because I want a little more sound but don't want to change the ECM..
