Any new information on the source of the chunks of metal in the primary?

my magnet broke into pieces like that by overtighting the drain plug,they since upgraded the magnetic plug...

No, not yet, it is still sitting in the garage with no oil in it.

Duane, no recommendations here about what happened.  Speculation has already covered about all the potential possibilities.  Only other thing I'll offer is be happy.  It is much better that the chunks came out of the primary.  Just about anything there the'll fix in a day.  If it'd been inside the motor, well, you've been there and done that already.  So unless you had a compensator back off so much and for so long that the crank is damaged you are already enjoying the silver lining to this particular cloud.
