A Study of Motorcycle Specific Oils
« on: January 05, 2007, 11:57:52 AM »

This synthetic oil test was done March of 2006 and the grafs below speak for themselves. Hope this can help someone decide if they are thinking about swaping out lubes.

I have sevearal other tests in book for Volatility,Foaming Tendency and Viscosity Shear Stability if anyones wants to see them. Amzoil and Mobil one at top of charts like thee above.

Shocker to me was the Royal Purple brand. I always knew were Pennzoil stood.

Interesting read, thanks for sharing. Guess I'm doing the right thing putting Amsoil in mines. [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

These results look very similar to those we found from an Amsoil reprint last year that had been done a few years back.

Good to see the similar findings now.

Thanks for the updated reports...I'm glad I'm using Mobil 1 Vtwin (Harley) and MT4X (Ducati)!!  As has been discussed here previously, this confirms that the Syn3 pretty much sucks in the tests that matter most.

100% agree that SYN3 is crapola.  I'm a long time AMSOIL and Bel-Ray user.  Always will be because they are superior oils, however has anyone considered who did this study?????????  As good as AMSOIL is, they do toot their own horn just a little too much for me.  I'm not much for marketing hype.  Heck, if you guys hadn't brought such strong recommendations for Glare, all it would have taken for me to kick them to the curb would have been their home page opening on my screen.  Hate the hype.  But that's just me and my pet peave.

It does seem somewhat one sided? I was going ask for source also, but he referred to the book "Volatility, Foaming Tendency and Viscosity Shear Stability". So I was thinking that maybe this was an independent test/study. [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

Here's another page from the Amsoil cookbook...

http://oilhelp.com/motorcycle/harleyvsamsoil/harleyvsamsoil.htm

Anyone have any hints on where to get Amsoil MCV at discount?

Cheers

PM Jim (hd-dude)...he's a dealer and can have it drop shipped to your door.

Mobil I Vtwin is available at some Advanced Auto type stores.  Either are great products.

I wish Someone would put that much study into what goes into your body (Health Wise) - I'm stickin' with Syn3 that what she was born with and that's what she'll get till I get a new bike way before anything wears out on her oil related :)

Use what you like your gonna pass me no matter how fast I'm going or what oil your using.  [smiley=orange.gif]

The affidavit on page 26 of the study says "the test results reported in the document entitled 'A Study of Motorcycle Specific Oils' prepared for the AMSOIL Power Sports Group in March of 2006 are correct."
To me, that indicates AMSOIL contracted for and paid a company to conduct the study.  That leaves me and everyone else who read that document to draw our own conclusions about it.  I didn't need to read this study, as it is an ex post facto insignificance to my decision to use their products.  My point is, in the end, AMSOIL is tooting their own horn.  See for yourself @  http://www.amsoil.com/lit/g2156.pdf
