[smiley=nervous.gif]  The Arc de Triomphe is a monument in Paris that stands in the centre of the Place Charles de Gaulle, formerly the Place de l'Étoile, at the western end of the Champs-Élysées.  Although I can not provide you a link to the circle around this monument, can I tell you that in my mind's eye, this is as scary a traffic situation, that the faint of heart should just ignore, that I can imagine.  We drove around it "Once" at 2:30 AM and made it out unscathed.  We usually parked in the secure garage at Charles De Gaul and just metroed into the city from there. You can get metro passes that takes you every where you want to go.  A marvel of efficient transportation.  Driving in many foreign countries is best left to those that grew up with it.  The use of the horn is as important as signal lights, gas pedal and brakes.   [smiley=nervous.gif]

Candy my father is from France and in 1991 got to visit there with him and my family, we flew into Paris for a week before we drove to the south to meet the family. But when we were driving around  Paris I remember the traffic nightmare around the L'arc de triumph and all the roads that came out of it. I was the map boy in the back of the Renault and it was like" Dad, take the next right" and seeing that there were like 8 lanes wide going around the "arch" he missed the turn like 10 times in a row. It reminded me of European Vacation with "Look kids Big Ben,Parliment."Bikes going around the damn thing, people just hitting each other, it was an expierence that I won't soon forget.   Later,Q

Impossible ! No cars, all is fine on the road !!! ;)

Yes Q - Jacques, this is the place I was thinking of.  Driving by horn, cars bump each other and no one slows down, let alone stop.  Big Ben - Parliament is right.  That turnabout has got to take years to perfect the driving around.

Look at how many intersections come into the same turnabout, there are not really lanes in the middle (that I can recall) but you must always yeild to the right and that is everyone coming into the circle, not getting out.  I remember feeling like you could keep getting into the middle, but it was very hard to get out of it - especially if you want to get out at a particular street.  Jamey stayed just off of here for a few weeks while he did a boondoggle of a school in Paris.  Now that is staying in the heart of everything.  It was a lot of fun, could walk to almost anything you wanted to see, and what you wanted to see was all right there.   [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

The India vid at the beginning of this thread (Some YouTube posts note it is really from SE Asia) reminds me of this classic one from Vietnam...

And the Arc de Triomphe notes remind me of the Chevy Chase European Vacation movie where they get caught in the roundabout during the day and at night they are still caught in it!

I picked up a Royal Enfield Bullet (thumper) while I was posted to New Delhi...every mile on that bike was a challenge.  He who has the biggest vehicle has the right of way!

I got the link from a local town forum where I work, and there is always a lot of "Indian" bashing going on there, so I think the "Indian" title might have been a misleading one (on the other forum).

Without knowing where it actually is my first guess would have been SE Asia though.
