That is very cool.  The guy is having fun.  That's something of a progression too.  Mirage III pilot to an Airbus captain to a human sized flying wing.  7 years development for a personal flying too must mean the guy is as OCD about his hobby as some others I know here are about theirs  ;D .

It was cool to watch but No Way I would step out of a perfectly running air plane! Maybe someday I will get over the heebee jeebees of flying and free falling and give it a shot...NOT! I believe I will leave it to the Spiderman and Batman's of the world. [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

Thanks bro for the video...had to translate the story to English though! [smiley=huepfenlol2.gif] [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

Stepping out of a perfectly functioning aircraft isn't a big deal JR.  It is just one little step after all.  As for riding this guy's little wing thing; um... well....   in a heartbeat.  That thing looked like big fun.

if man was meant to fly,,, he would have been born with wings.

nope never have and probably never will.

unless someone gives me an all expence paid trip to Hawaii for 2 months,, then I might think about it.  if they sedate me.

I had heard about this before but hadn't seen it. Was somewhat concerned when he was boarding the plane and it took two people to get this device in the plane. My first thought was how was he going to land and get up? After seeing video I  guess the fuel on board had something to do with the weight. Speaking of fuel I bet he has a accurate fuel gauge. ;D

Reminded me of something a flight instructor told me once JR.  Was my first aerobatics flight.  In an open cockpit Citabria.  Just before takeoff guy says "hey, you ever get air sick?"  I tell him that motion sickness has never been a problem.  Then he says "well, if you feel like it let me know and I'll go inverted."

I can't figure out how going upside down might ever help someone who feels like they're about to blow chunks.  So like an idiot I bite and ask "what good will that do?"  He grins really big and says "that way you can throw up down!"

That was the only thing that gave me pause about his little contraption.  Actually wearing the gas tank that close to an engine.  Lots of plumbing to carry fuel to those little engines.  Would really hate to be enjoying a nice flight and find oneself deep fried at altitude.

What a great invention, must be an incredible rush. I'd be interested in seeing the controls. Coming over the top of the mountains in the area he was in didn't leave much room for error. Put a heads up GPS and an MP3 player in the helmet and you got something. [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

Below is the article in English or close to.

"2006 : a rival for Batman

Obsessed by the myth of Icaris the men tried to fly like birds; failing to reach that point, of the pioneers machines built flying in which they were locked up to control them.

Mû by the desire to always be a bird the man developed, these last decades, of the apparatuses allowing him to fly while benefiting from ascending currents as in the hang glider and parapet, or gliding flight going down with winged combinations or small rigid wings on back.

However nobody is not unaware of that since 1939, human really could to fly while springing and while moving in the airs at will: its name is BATMAN hero of comic strips whose creator is Bob Kane.

Today, Batman can leave his page of paper and the movie screens to fly over the Alps Suisses, thanks to Yves Rossy who carried out the great dream of Léonard De Vinci.

In the line of its many predecessors flying men, this Switzerland impassioned of flight since always, after having flown on Mirage III with the army, then as commander on Airbus, not only designed and developed wings which enable him to fly, but it also built them and tested during these seven last years.

Finally since the last autumn, the dream became reality thanks to four mini-engines assembled under its wings, which propel it to more than 200 km/h to the attack of the tops. During the flight, the body of Yves becomes that of a bird, and except a handle of the gazs, it does not control its wing, but STEALS it truly, thanks to some light movements of its body, very as the birds do it.

And like Batman, when it flies beside planes which accompany it, when it puts the gazs, the latter can only look at it disappearing in the azure…

The main thing is made, but there remain some stages to be crossed until takeoff, the lifting figures, the vertical rises and the participation in the next air demonstrations.

Yves is not very proud to have arrived only and with the assistance of his friends, with this decisive goal that everyone judged unrealistic. For the next stages, it will need partners and support, which should not miss, taking into account the interest and of the enormous potential of the project."
