Need advice - Custom Corbin Classic Solo
« on: March 28, 2015, 11:27:14 AM »

I'm going to purchase the Corbin Classic Solo & pillion for my yellow 2009 CVO Road Glide. I don't want to buy the standard black leather seat, I want to change the material to accent the scheme of the bike. I've considered the diamond stitch with the black bomber leather in the seating area but I'm concerned this will not look right with the ghost flames on the bike. I've also considered the black ostrich/snake/alligator center or accent strips with the black leather tuck & roll pleats to give the seat a different look. I've also considered Carbon Fiber accent strips as a contrast to the black leather. If anyone has photos or suggestions I would appreciate it. This is a tough decision as there are so many options & it's an expensive gamble to go with something I haven't seen in person or a photo. I've searched the internet over the past few weeks so I have a few ideas. Just looking for other opinions before I make my final decision & place my order.

Thanks in advance for your input.

Go to Corbins site and you can design your seat with their new on line design feature.
Just click on the picture of the seat and your options will come up.

Stunning bike!    :2vrolijk_21:   I might be biased.  The options from Corbin are extensive.  Here is what I did:   Re: SERG AND CVO: VERY GOOD TO ME! NEXT?    See replies 149 -  154.

I've got an Atomic Orange RGC with black Corbin saddle with bomber leather diamond stitching.  Absolutely love it.

I went with red/silver stitched flames on a black leather seat.  I really like the color of the stock seat on the red 2013 CVO Breakout.   I would go with that color if I could do it over.

You can go with the black leather, colored piping (shown above), black piping or no piping at all.

You can also go with black leather and colored thread in various patterns such as:

Click on this link and scroll through the pics of Terrie's seat being made:  http://www.cvoharley.com/smf/index.php?topic=30292.msg492454#msg492454

and my last bike, along with Terrie's......  http://www.cvoharley.com/smf/index.php?topic=75173.msg1031592#msg1031592

And my bike before last..... http://www.picturetrail.com/sfx/album/slideshow/4000502

Hopefully these will provide you some more ideas for leathers, colors, threads, etc.

Time for a road trip to Hollister, Ca.  Make it the July 4th weekend and you'll be right on time for the Hollister Rally.  And since you'll be at Corbin, might as well swing by Johnnie's.....see where it all begin. :2vrolijk_21:

I'm also thinking about going with the Classic Solo and like the idea of riding in and having it done while you wait. Do they take into consideration height, weight, ect., and custom apply the foam for your application or is it all the same?

Also, I have the heat deflectors that mount under the frame at the rear of the engine, do these have to come off with the Corbin seat?

Last question, how do you like the key feature to open the seat?, any issues with mounting brackets and or security?

We have had half a dozen or so seats made there while we waited. It can make for a fun day if planned well. Before installing the cover you can test ride the seat and have them add or remove foam to your liking.  Be decisive beforehand on your seat position etc..
I don't know about the heat deflectors but would think they shouldn't be a problem.
The key access is great, but we are used to that as our other bikes come standard with that feature.
Think about adding heat, even to the solo. I'm glad I did. There is a way to get around any center stitching with heat addition. Most like the stitching and they will tell you it's necessary though

Unfortunately, I live in Ohio.

That's not unfortunate.....that'll make for an even nicer road trip.  :2vrolijk_21:

By the way, Roger recommended adding the seat heaters and I concur.  All the links I provided above have seat heaters.
