I don't understand y'all's problem. I think it sounds great and if I could get my 110 to do that (especially if switchable) I damn sure would.
 Now, if I could only make it lope like a shovel...

I could listen to that all day, but I don't think my engine would fair too well. I have been playing with my FP3 and idle speed on mine and below 950 it doesn't charge as good so that's where I left it. 800 was as low as I could go, still had 13 psi on the oil and around 13 volts. Some of the guys over seas are going with 648 and some lower. Very cool sound, but can't be good for oil scavenging or pressure turning that slow.

The current days of EFI and the little black box have made that "sound" pretty much history.  Only a carbed bike can come up with a low idle that sounds that sweet,  and beyond any low oil pressure,  any steady rpms below 900 are insufficient to maintain the electronics (black box and all) and keep the battery charged up. :drink:

Given that these are air-cooled machines, no-one is likely to let one sit idling for long enough for charge level issues to matter.
I would love to be able (via the Power Vision, for instance) to engage a lope mode just for grins. I had played with dialing it down before and the twin cam setup just doesn't produce the right vibe. 88~110 the results are similar.

I've often wondered if there are any particular aftermarket cam(s) for them that get close to the shovel sound in twin cams.

I agree with you on the charging issues since nobody is dumb enough to do that ... hopefully. I would be more worried about oiling issues at really low speeds. As far as the shovel sound ... doesn't a lot of the sound have to do with timing? I know the old ones you could manually advance or retard the timing ... if you feel safe enough to trust yourself with getting into the timing tables and playing around with it at idle speed, you may come closer to that sound without cams maybe? I don't know ... I do know I wouldn't trust myself to do that! I would love to have more of that "yesterday" sound when idling without damaging anything.

Low speed idle sounds good but not smart. Sort of like the pipes some guys use to sound bad azz but produce less power.
