13 cvo road king paint issue.
« on: April 01, 2015, 10:54:54 AM »

Ok guys I bought my 13 cvo road king brand new. When it arrived from a dealer trade my saddlebag lid had a chip in it. This was attempted to be fixed and it took about 3 weeks to get it back. The problem was fixed but the color didn't match so they installed the bag lid so I could ride and ordered a brand new one. It arrived and looked good. Less than a year later the lid starts to haze in the clear. Will not buff out. Dealer gets a warranty claim in the works. They have had my bike for five weeks. My bag lid was at caliber for 4 weeks. They buffed the bag lid and sent it back with the same problem. Now they got permission to get a new lid ordered again. What should I do/ ask for in this situation. Very upset that my bike has spent so much time in the shop for the same issue repeatedly and even now. I will get it back in the same condition it was in 5 weeks ago. And then I am waiting 30 days for new bag. Then probably another day or 2 down to have old lid taken off new one installed. And that is if it matches.

The first mistake was the dealer sent your lid back to be repaired rather than have a new lid painted and sent to them.  They would then install the new lid and send the old one back to the vendor.  That's the way it was done back when I had several issues in 2005, and it's still the way it should be done.  Having a bike out of service sitting at a dealership for five weeks waiting for a saddlebag lid is ridiculous and indefensible.  You really should kick your dealers azz for not doing it the right way.  And if they claim the vendor wouldn't send one without receiving the old one first, tell them you'd like to see some proof in writing from H-D saying that was the only way it could be done.  Total BS!

I ordered a new outer faring for my scoot. Figured they would want old one first. Not the case. New one ordered, bike brought in when new one arrived. New one installed and bike returned to me WITH the old faring. Replacement was due to paint damage caused by P/O doing something he probably should not have done. Point is new one ordered with no problem and I still got the old one as well. The only thing required to place the order was the V.I.N.

I would want them to give me a loaner bike for the time it is away, as has been said already, a totally lame reason not to have your bike. I would also look at the next service being done at no cost. As always, find something that is relatively cheap for them to give away, but is of high value to you. Good luck.
